Myxofibrosarcoma: Another mimicker of meningioma
We report a case of a dural-based myxofibrosarcoma in a previously healthy 42-year-old man that was initially presumed to be an atypical meningioma. The findings based on conventional and advanced magnetic resonance sequences, including diffusion-weighted imaging, perfusion weighted imaging and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, as well as histopathological aspects, are discussed.PMID:33875380 | DOI:10.1016/j.neucir.2021.03.002 (Source: Neurocirugia)

Glottic Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma: A Case Report and Literature Review
We present the case of a 59-year-old male patient who has been smoking for 40 years. He presented with signs and symptoms of an obstructive glottic mass. The diagnostic workup pointed to a malignant pathology; the histopathology report confirmed the diagnosis of glottic undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (malignant fibrous histiocytoma).Case Rep Oncol 2021;14:641 –646 (Source: Case Reports in Oncology)

Re-irradiation using proton therapy for radiation-induced secondary cancer with Li-Fraumeni syndrome: A case report and review of literature
Tomoya Iwasaki, Masashi Mizumoto, Haruko Numajiri, Yoshiko Oshiro, Ryoko Suzuki, Kyoko Moritani, Mariko Eguchi, Eiichi Ishii, Hideyuki SakuraiJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2020 16(6):1524-1527 Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a genetic disease that is hypersensitive to radiotherapy. Proton therapy (PT) was strongly recommended for pediatric and radiation-sensitive tumors. However, there is little information on PT for LFS. The patient was a 7-year-old girl with LFS who was diagnosed with radiation-induced right shoulder blade osteosarcoma and left chest wall malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Both tumors were in t...

Clinical outcomes of non ‐osteogenic, non‐Ewing soft‐tissue sarcoma of bone––experience of the Toronto Sarcoma Program
In patients with Non ‐osteogenic, non‐Ewing soft‐tissue sarcoma (NONE‐STS) of bone, long‐term survival is similar to that of osteosarcoma. Patients receiving chemotherapy who demonstrated ≥85% necrosis on pathologic specimens had improved survival, whereas those with UPS/MFH histology experienced sarcoma‐r elated death beyond 10 years. AbstractNon ‐osteogenic, non‐Ewing soft‐tissue sarcoma (NONE‐STS) of bone is a rare presentation of primary bone cancers. Optimal treatments and outcomes for this heterogenous group are poorly described. We evaluated the factors associated with long‐term outcomes in ...

A Rare Case of Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma Mimicking Benign Tumour in Maxillofacial Region
AbstractSarcomas are malignancies arising from mesenchymal (nonepithelial) tissue and are broadly classified into sarcomas of soft tissue and bone. Soft tissue sarcomas of the head and neck are rare; they comprise  <  1% of head and neck cancers and <  10% of all soft tissue sarcomas (Chang et al. in Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 151:976–983, 2014). There have been few large series, and most have included embryonal rhabdomyosarcomas which are different from other sarcomas and are both radio- and chemosensitive (Eelesl et al. in Br J Cancer 68:20 1–207, 1993). Malignant soft tissue tumours differ from benign ...

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma - a case report
Mohaddeseh Imampanahi, Safoura Seifi, Mina Motllebnejad, Marjan Kiani, R Alireza PournabiJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2020 16(3):657-660 Fibrous histiocytoma is a mesenchymal neoplasm with benign and malignant varieties. This tumor mainly affects the skin of extremities in adults and may on rare occasions affect the oral cavity. The tumor has radiographic features in very rare cases. The present case report aims to conduct a clinicopathological-radiographic and immunohistochemical assessment and treatment of a patient with this lesion. A retrospective analysis of atypical fibroxanthoma treated with Mohs micrographic surgery at a single academic institution
To the Editor: Atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX) is a rare spindle cell malignant neoplasm that arises within the dermis and appears as a red-to-pink nodule that generally affects older men on chronically sun-damaged skin, such as the head and neck region.1-3 AFX exists on a spectrum with related entities, such as undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS), malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH), and pleomorphic dermal sarcoma (PDS),4 with the latter entities tending to occur deeper.2 Depth of invasion, size, age, immunosuppression, and lymphatic invasion have been shown to be predictive of poor outcomes, but study remains limite...

A splenic 'cyst': histology confirmed splenic sarcoma.
Abstract Primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma, now classified as pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma, is the most common soft-tissue sarcoma in adult life. Primary splenic pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma is extremely rare and aggressive, and is associated with a poor prognosis; only 14 cases of splenic pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma have been documented in the English literature. We discuss a case of a 56-year-old woman with iron-deficiency anaemia, early satiety and left upper-quadrant pain, who was preoperatively diagnosed with a large splenic cyst following thorough investigation. This was...
