Response to stent retriever for tandem acute revascularization technique (START): a novel technique for endovascular management of tandem occlusions
We read with great interest the videographic depiction of the stent retriever for tandem acute revascularization technique (START) technique, and applaud the authors for their use of a stent retriever wire to facilitate treatment of the cervical occlusion in tandem large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke cases.1 We published a similar technique in 2020,2 in which we described this as the "one cross" technique, since the presumptive culprit lesion is crossed only one time, mitigating the risk of losing access or potentially exacerbating a dissection flap by repetitively crossing a previously occluded lesion. This technique of u...

The interpositional bypass with a parietal branch of superficial temporal artery graft for symptomatic atherosclerotic anterior cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion
CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that PISAB, as a safe superficial bypass, can effectively reduce the risk of stroke in SAASO patients. More precise conclusions will require randomized control studies.PMID:38645741 | PMC:PMC11026711 | DOI:10.3389/fneur.2024.1361151 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Correlation Between Carotid Stenosis and Pulsatile Index Measured by Transcranial Doppler
CONCLUSION: Transcranial Doppler findings showed an increased pulsatile index in patients who had carotid stenosis greater than 50% compared to patients with mild carotid stenosis. The study showed that in clinical work it would be necessary to introduce the pulsatile index as an indispensable neurosonological parameter that would be included in the findings of the transcranial Doppler and thus objectify the potential risk of a cerebrovascular ischemic event.PMID:38645684 | PMC:PMC11027956 | DOI:10.5455/aim.2024.32.11-14 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

Procedural factors associated with successful recanalization in patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with endovascular thrombectomy-a nationwide register-based observational study
CONCLUSION: This study illustrates factors associated with procedural success in endovascular thrombectomy on a nationwide scale including the use of general anesthesia, BGC, annual center volumes >50 cases per year and the overall success rate of the individual operator. It highlights the potential benefit of systematic performance measurements, benchmarking, and continuous training to bring all centers and operators to the highest level of performance.PMID:38646674 | DOI:10.1177/15910199241248268 (Source: Interventional Neuroradiology)

Brain-Derived Exosomal CircRNAs in Plasma Serve as Diagnostic Biomarkers for Acute Ischemic Stroke
AbstractAcute ischemic stroke (AIS), commonly known as stroke, is a debilitating condition characterized by the interruption of blood flow to the brain, resulting in tissue damage and neurological deficits. Early diagnosis is crucial for effective intervention and management, as timely treatment can significantly improve patient outcomes. Therefore, novel methods for the early diagnosis of AIS are urgently needed. Several studies have shown that bioactive molecules contained in extracellular vesicles, especially circRNAs, could be ideal markers for the diagnosis of many diseases. However, studies on the effects of exosomes...
