Endovascular thrombectomy in wake-up stroke guided by arterial spin-labeling and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery versus diffusion-weighted imaging mismatch on MRI
ConclusionGuided by the ASL-DWI and FLAIR-DWI double mismatch, endovascular thrombectomy combined with standard medical treatment appears to yield superior functional outcomes in patients with WUS and large vessel occlusion compared to standard medical treatment alone. Molecular Imaging of Fibroblast Activation in Rabbit Atherosclerotic Plaques: a Preclinical PET/CT Study
ConclusionsWe successfully achieve molecular imaging of fibroblast activation in atherosclerotic lesions of rabbits, suggesting Al18F-NOTA-FAPI-04 PET/CT may be a potentially valuable tool to identify plaques. (Source: Molecular Imaging and Biology)

Stroke in Asia
Cerebrovasc Dis Extra. 2024 Apr 24. doi: 10.1159/000538928. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBackground There is a significant burden of stroke in Asia. Asia has the largest population in the world in 2023, estimated at 4.7 billion. Approximately 9.5-10.6 million strokes will be anticipated annually in the backdrop of a diverse group of well-developed and less developed countries with large disparities in stroke care resources. In addition, Asian countries are in varying phases of epidemiological transition. Summary In this review, we examined recent epidemiological features of ischaemic stroke and intracerebral haemorrhage i...

The Association of CHADS-P2A2RC Risk Score With Clinical Outcomes in Patients Taking P2Y12 Inhibitor Monotherapy After 3 Months of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy Following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
CONCLUSIONS: The CHADS-P2A2RC risk score is valuable in discriminating high-ischemic-risk patients. Even in such patients with a high risk of ischemic events, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy was associated with a lower incidence of bleeding without increased risk of ischemic events compared with prolonged DAPT.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02079194.PMID:38654565 | DOI:10.4070/kcj.2023.0268 (Source: Korean Circulation Journal)

You only ECHO Twice
We report on an 80-year-old woman with a cerebral stroke. Successful thrombectomy revealed a histopathologically confirmed papillary fibroelastoma as the embolic source. Although it was not detectable on initial echocardiography, the tumour was discovered by transesophageal echocardiography. This case emphasises the importance of considering primary cardiac tumours as potential sources of emboli in ischaemic stroke. Keywords.PMID:38655734 (Source: Praxis)
