Interrupting Effect of Social Distancing on Ischemic Heart Disease, Asthma, Stroke, and Suicide Attempt Patients by PM < sub > 2.5 < /sub > Exposure
CONCLUSION: While the interrupting effect of SD was not as pronounced as anticipated, this study did validate the effectiveness of SD in modifying health behaviors and minimizing avoidable visits to EDs in addition to curtailing the occurrence of infectious diseases.PMID:38653569 | PMC:PMC11045348 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0135 (Source: Yonsei Medical Journal)

Long term outcome after endovascular treatment for large ischemic core acute stroke is associated with hypoperfusion intensity ratio and onset-to-reperfusion time
ConclusionsHigher HIR and longer OTR time in large core stroke patients were independently associated with unfavorable three-month outcomes after EVT. (Source: Neurosurgical Review)

Correction: Emergent carotid stenting versus no stenting for acute ischemic stroke due to tandem occlusion: a meta-analysis
Diana F, Romoli M, Toccaceli G, et al.Emergent carotid stenting versus no stenting for acute ischemic stroke due to tandem occlusion: a meta-analysis. J NeuroIntervent Surg 2023;15:428–433. Since this paper was first published, figure 3 has been updated, because an article was wrongly included in the analysis. The OR, 95 CI and weight categories have been updated. However, point estimate remains unchanged, and only a minor change to 95%CI emerged. (Source: Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery)

Mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke in the USA before and after time window expansion
Conclusions The window expansion for mechanical thrombectomy for patients with acute ischemic stroke was associated with an increase in the numbers of mechanical thrombectomy procedures and performing hospitals with a reduction of in-hospital mortality in the USA. How much of the outcome improvement after successful recanalization is explained by follow-up infarct volume reduction?
Conclusion 56% (95% CI 38% to 78%) of outcome improvement after successful recanalization was explained by FIV reduction. Results corroborate pathophysiological assumptions and confirm the value of FIV as an imaging endpoint in clinical trials. 44% (95% CI 22% to 62%) of the improvement in outcome was not explained by FIV reduction and reflects the remaining mismatch between radiological and clinical outcome measures. Clot composition and recanalization outcomes in mechanical thrombectomy
Conclusions Despite the lack of correlation between clot histology and FPE, our study adds to the growing evidence supporting the notion that clot composition influences recanalization treatment strategy outcomes. (Source: Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery)

Real world data in mechanical thrombectomy: who are we losing to follow-up?
Conclusion MOD in routine care MT registry data was not random. Increased efforts to perform clinical follow-up are needed, especially in the case of higher pre-stroke and post-stroke disability and discharge to hospital or institutional care.
