SOX4 regulates proliferation and apoptosis of human ovarian granulosa-like tumor cell line KGN through the Hippo pathway
Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2024 Feb 27;705:149738. doi: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2024.149738. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe proliferation and apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells are important for folliculogenesis. As a transcription factor, SRY-box transcription factor 4 (SOX4) has important roles in regulating cellular proliferation and apoptosis. Nonetheless, the regulatory mechanisms of SOX4 on proliferation and apoptosis of granulosa cells remain elusive. Therefore, a stably overexpressed SOX4 ovarian granulosa cell line KGN was generated by lentivirus encapsulation. We observed that overexpression of SOX4 inhibits apoptos...

The detailed histopathological characteristics of ovarian fibroma compared with thecoma, granulosa cell tumor, and sclerosing stromal tumor
CONCLUSION: Ovarian fibromas can present some maybe unexpected features rather frequently, such as cystic degeneration, hyaline plaques, prominent vascularity, increased cellularity, and some mitotic activity, thus their presence should not always prompt to an alternative diagnosis.PMID:38447489 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2024.155236 (Source: Cell Research)

A clinicopathological study about the epidemiology of granulosa cell tumors in Lebanon
Granulosa Cell Tumors (GCT) are considered the most frequent type of sex-cord stromal tumors. These tumors constitute 3-6% of neoplasms of the ovaries. GCTs are divided into 2 types: Juvenile GCT (JGCT) and Ad... (Source: BMC Cancer)

Exploring the histogenesis of STK11 adnexal tumour using electron microscopy
We report the ultrastructural features of two STK11 adnexal tumours and compare their ultrastructural features with those of other sex cord stromal tumours, a granulosa cell tumour cell line, as well as the known ultrastructural features of epithelial, mesothelial and Wolffian cells. On ultrastructural examination, two STK11 adnexal tumours showed an admixture of elongated cells with regular elongated nuclei and polygonal cells with nuclei showing markedly irregular outlines and prominent nucleoli. Extracellular collagen fibres were identified. These are common ultrastructural features of sex cord stromal tumours, principa...

Complete reduction surgery of a huge recurrent adult granulosa cell tumor after neoadjuvant chemotherapy
We report a patient who underwent complete resection of a huge recurrent adult granulosa cell tumor after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. A 72-year-old woman underwent prima ry surgery for an adult granulosa cell tumor 19 years earlier. A huge recurrent tumor, 11 × 10 cm in size, was noted to elevate the hepatic hilum, inferior vena cava, and right renal vein. The recurrent tumor was too large to resect, thus paclitaxel and carboplatin were administered as neoadj uvant chemotherapy. The tumor shrank to 6 × 5 cm after 6 cycles of chemotherapy, then complete tumor extirpation with resection of the right kidney and tem...

Lycopene mitigates DHT-induced apoptosis and oxidative stress in human granulosa cell line KGN by regulating the Nrf2 pathway
ConclusionIn summary, this work revealed that lycopene alleviates oxidative stress and apoptosis in KGN cells in the presence of DHT, which at least partly by depending on the activation of Nrf2 cascade signal at the molecular level. (Source: Molecular and Cellular Toxicology)

Identification and validation of senescence-related genes in polycystic ovary syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Our work aimed to elucidate the relation between PCOS and cellular senescence based on bioinformatics strategy, deepening the understanding of mechanisms and to seek for novel therapy strategies for improving reproductive lifespan and female health. Exploring the potential molecular mechanism of cell aging in PCOS is expected to bring a new breakthrough for PCOS diagnosis and therapy strategies. And this, might deepen our understanding about intricate mechanisms of ovarian aging.PMID:38184636 | DOI:10.1186/s13048-023-01338-4 (Source: Cell Research)

Serial cytoreductive surgery and survival outcomes in recurrent adult-type ovarian granulosa cell tumors
Few studies have evaluated the role of cytoreductive surgery in patients with recurrent adult granulosa cell tumors of the ovary. Despite a multitude of treatment modalities in the recurrent setting, the optimal management strategy is not known. Cytoreductive surgery offers an attractive option for disease confined to the abdomen/pelvis. However, few studies have evaluated the role of surgery compared to systemic therapy alone following the first recurrence and subsequent disease progressions. Prognostic factors of adult granulosa cell tumors of the ovary: a Turkish retrospective multicenter study
CONCLUSION: In this study, lymph node involvement was detected in 3.3% of patients with AGCT. Therefore, it was concluded that lymphadenectomy can be avoided in primary surgical treatment. Positive peritoneal cytology, stage, and menopausal status were independent prognostic predictors of DFS.PMID:38156722 | DOI:10.3802/jgo.2024.35.e39 (Source: Journal of Gynecologic Oncology)
