The unique immune ecosystems in pediatric brain tumors: integrating single-cell and bulk RNA-sequencing
ConclusionThe single-cell technique provides a rational path to deeply understand the unique immune ecosystem of pediatric brain tumors. In spite of the traditional attitudes of “cold” tumor towards pediatric brain tumor, the immune-stroma-tumor patterns identified in this study suggest the feasibility of immune checkpoint inhibitors and pave the way for the upcoming tide of immunotherapy in pediatric brain tumors. Spinal ependymoma in adults: from molecular advances to new treatment perspectives
Ependymomas are rare glial tumors with clinical and biological heterogeneity, categorized into supratentorial ependymoma, posterior fossa ependymoma, and spinal cord ependymoma, according to anatomical localization. Spinal ependymoma comprises four different types: spinal ependymoma, spinal ependymoma MYCN-amplified, myxopapillary ependymoma, and subependymoma. The clinical onset largely depends on the spinal location of the tumor. Both non-specific and specific sensory and/or motor symptoms can be present. Owing to diverse features and the low incidence of spinal ependymomas, most of the current clinical management is der...

Incorporating variable RBE in IMPT optimization for ependymoma
CONCLUSION: We demonstrated the feasibility of directly incorporating variable RBE models in IMPT optimization. A hybrid RBE optimization strategy showed potential for clinical implementation by maintaining all current dose limits and reducing the incidence of high RBE in critical normal tissues in ependymoma patients.PMID:37985962 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14207 (Source: Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics)

Adult cerebral high-grade glioneuronal tumor with perivascular or pseudopapillary growth co-existing with low-grade tumor: a case report
Int J Clin Exp Pathol. 2023 Oct 15;16(10):294-302. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTAn unusual, small cell-predominant, high-grade glioneuronal tumor in the occipital lobe of a 49-year-old man that co-existed with a low-grade tumor is reported. The tumor consisted of two distinct components: the major component was a dense proliferation of primitive small cells showing bidirectional neuronal and glial differentiation; and the minor component consisted of a proliferation of well-differentiated astrocytes intermingled with mature neuronal cells. In the former component, perivascular pseudorosette-like or pseudopapillary growth remin...
