Comparison between three methods of diode laser 810 nm, photodynamic therapy with laser 660 nm, and hypochlorite solution for disinfection of pulp canal of primary teeth
Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, to compare three disinfection methods of thedeciduous teeth canals without preparation of canals, sodium hypochlorite had greater efficiencyAll three groups of laser, photodynamic therapy, and sodium hypochlorite showed reductions ofE. faecalis bacterial colony compared to the control group. The reductive effects of CFU weregreater in the hypochlorite sodium group, followed by photodynamic and direct laser radiationgroups.Key Words:Enterococcus faecalis, low-level light therapy, methylene blue, photodynamictherapy, sodium hypochlorite (Source: Dental Research Journal)

Spectral Phasor Applied to Spectrally-Resolved Single Molecule Localization Microscopy
Chemphyschem. 2024 Apr 2:e202400101. doi: 10.1002/cphc.202400101. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSpectrally-resolved single-molecule localization microscopy (srSMLM) has emerged as a powerful tool for exploring the spectral properties of single emitters in localization microscopy. By simultaneously capturing the spatial positions and spectroscopic signatures of individual fluorescent molecules, srSMLM opens up the possibility of investigating an additional dimension in super-resolution imaging. However, appropriate and dedicated tools are required to fully capitalize on the spectral dimension. Here, we propose the applicati...

Effect of lotus seed resistant starch on the bioconversion pathway of taurocholic acid by regulating the intestinal microbiota
This study aims to investigate how lotus seed resistant starch (LRS) can regulate microbiota to influence BA transformation. A fecal fermentation study was conducted in vitro, using either LRS, high-amylose maize starch (HAMS), or glucose (GLU) to analyze microbiota composition, BA content, and metabolic enzyme activities over different fermentation times. Bioinformatics analysis found that LRS increased the relative abundance of Enterococcus, Bacillus, and Lactobacillus, and decreased Escherichia-Shigella, compared with HAMS and GLU. LRS also reduced total BA content and accelerated the conversion of TCA to cholic acid, d...

Conclusions: The findings from this study indicate that biosynthesized AgNPs from Solanum lycopersicum exhibit promising antimicrobial and antioxidant properties against UTI pathogens, including strains resistant to multiple antibiotics. This suggests their potential as an effective alternative treatment for UTIs. Further research is warranted to fully understand the mechanisms of action and to explore the therapeutic applications of these nanoparticles in combating UTIs.PMID:38541241 | DOI:10.3390/medicina60030515 (Source: Medicina (Kaunas))
