Incidence and Mitigation of Corneal Pseudomicrocysts Induced by Antibody –Drug Conjugates (ADCs)
This study is to highlight the incidence of corneal pseudomicrocysts in FDA-approved antibody –drug conjugates (ADCs), and success of preventive therapies for pseudomicrocysts and related ocular surface adverse events (AEs).Recent FindingsADCs are an emerging class of selective cancer therapies that consist of a potent cytotoxin connected to a monoclonal antibody (mAb) that targets antigens expressed on malignant cells. Currently, there are 11 FDA-approved ADCs with over 164 in clinical trials. Various AEs have been attributed to ADCs, including ocular surface AEs (keratitis/keratopathy, dry eye, conjunctivitis, blurred ...

Comparison Between Moxifloxacin and Chloramphenicol for the Treatment of Bacterial Eye Infections
CONCLUSIONS: The lower corneal cell toxicity and the broader spectrum of antibacterial activity observed with moxifloxacin suggests its use in ophthalmic solution for the treatment of bacterial eye infections.PMID:38511104 | PMC:PMC10950741 | DOI:10.1016/j.curtheres.2024.100740 (Source: Cell Research)

Association between alopecia areata and allergic diseases: An All of Us database study
Several epidemiological studies have reported associations between alopecia areata (AA) and allergic diseases. This association may be linked to Type 2 inflammation contributing to AA pathophysiology, as suggested by a higher prevalence of atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and asthma among AA individuals.1-5 Furthermore, epidemiologic evidence of AA patients experiencing seasonal relapses, comorbid atopic conditions, and elevated IgE levels may also indicate a shared immunological pathway with allergic diseases. IgE to cyclophilins in pollen allergic children: epidemiological, clinical and diagnostic relevance of a neglected panallergen.
Capsule summary: Plant cyclophilins, panallergens known since decades, are still neglected. However, among Italian children with seasonal allergic rhino-conjunctivitis, cyclophilin-sIgE antibodies cause false positive reactions to pollen extracts of many clinically relevant species, mainly trees and weeds. Characteristics of atopic dermatitis patients using complementary and alternative medicine: A literature review
DISCUSSION: To our knowledge, this is the first literature review focusing on socio-demographic and disease determinants related to CAM use among AD patients. The lack of homogeneity in measuring tools makes it difficult to compare and synthesize the studies.PMID:38489869 | DOI:10.1016/j.annder.2024.103257 (Source: Annales de Dermatologie et de Cenereologie)
