Levels of Immunoglobulin E Sensitization Drive Symptom Thresholds in Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common respiratory disease encompassing a variety of phenotypes. Patients can be sensitized to one or more allergens. There are indications that polysensitization is associated with more severe disease. However, the extent to which the level of sensitization is associated to clinical disease variability, underlying the distinct nature of AR from AR+ conjunctivitis or AR+ asthma, is not known. A novel p55PIK signaling peptide inhibitor alleviates neuroinflammation via the STAT3/NF-kB signaling pathway in experimental stroke
Ischemic stroke remains the predominant contributor to mortality and disability globally. Microglia undergo rapid activation and initiate inflammatory cascade reactions by phenotypic polarization, participating in the regulation of inflammatory injury and tissue repair post-ischemic stroke. Regulating microglia-mediated neuroinflammation is a promising therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke. Previously, we designed and synthesized a novel p55PIK inhibitor, TAT-N15 polypeptide, which presents inhibitive activity on NF- κB signaling-mediated inflammation in acute conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis. Vogt –Koyanagi–Harada disease after SARS‐CoV‐2 infection: Case report and literature review
ConclusionDespite the unclear causality, it is important for ophthalmologists and physicians to be recognizant of the possible association between VKH disease and COVID-19. SARS-CoV-2 may play a potential immunological triggering role in VKH disease. However, further in-depth research is necessary to investigate the clinical and epidemiological features, as well as the underlying mechanisms of this association. Five-Year Risk and Safety Profile of Autologous Serum Eye Drop Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: Serum eye drops are often used in patients with severe or chronic anterior eye diseases with an intrinsic risk of infectious diseases. Despite these preexisting risk factors, autologous serum eye drops can be considered safe, even in patients with a compromised ocular surface.PMID:38653292 | DOI:10.1055/a-2244-6285 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

Adverse events in biologics for severe asthma
CONCLUSION: Biologics for severe asthma are recent drugs with a favorable safety profile, but with little real-life experience, justifying increased vigilance by prescribing physicians.PMID:38653607 | DOI:10.1016/j.rmr.2024.04.001 (Source: Revue des Maladies Respiratoires)

Radiofrequency regulation of the sphenopalatine ganglion in managing herpes zoster ophthalmicus neuralgia: A case series
CONCLUSION: Our findings indicated that CT-guided radiofrequency regulation of the pterygopalatine fossa sphenopalatine ganglion was a safe and effective intervention for pain in patients with trigeminal ophthalmic zoster neuralgia, suggesting that it may be a therapeutic option if other treatments fail.PMID:38640323 | PMC:PMC11029985 | DOI:10.1097/MD.0000000000037884 (Source: Herpes)

Single ‐dose ibuprofen induced Stevens–Johnson Syndrome
We present a case of a 45-year-old woman who developed SJS following a single dose of ibuprofen. Despite its rarity, this case underscores the importance of heightened vigilance in healthcare and public awareness regarding the potential risks of commonly used medications. Prompt recognition of SJS symptoms and immediate medical intervention are crucial for patient outcomes. Healthcare providers should exercise caution when prescribing ibuprofen, particu larly in patients with a history of adverse drug reactions. This case emphasizes the need for ongoing monitoring, patient education, and informed decision-making to promote...

Peripheral ulcerative keratitis associated with tralokinumab therapy: a case report and review of IL-13 inhibitor-associated ocular surface disease
ConclusionThis case report documents ulcerative keratitis occurring in association with tralokinumab therapy for AD, which has previously been described with dupilumab but not tralokinumab. This report demonstrates the need for vigilant ocular surface monitoring for patients on tralokinumab and illustrates successful management and long-term control of adverse ocular events associated with this medication. Atopic Keratoconjunctivitis: Pathophysiology, Clinic, and Potential New Therapeutic Concepts
Klin Monbl Augenheilkd. 2024 Apr 11. doi: 10.1055/a-2244-2885. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAtopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease with a bipolar age distribution in childhood, adolescence and middle adulthood. Up to 50% of AD patients show ocular involvement, which can be potentially sight threatening. Clinically, the majority of cases present with atopic blepharo(kerato)conjunctivitis or atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC); other clinical variants from this group of inflammatory ocular surface diseases are keratoconjunctivitis vernalis in childhood and adolescence and allergic conjunctivit...
