Changing specialty mid-residency (surgery to PM & R)
I am in the middle of a surgical residency and it has been going great by all accounts. I love surgery, but as my family has grown, I've come to realize how much I struggle with missing things and not being around. I knew I would miss things when I chose to go into surgery, but what I didn't know is how much that would... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Include High School Research?
Hi, I was unsure whether to include high school research in my work/activities section and whether I should include it in the calculation of Significant Research Hours. I will be including it in my Significant Research experience essay (due to having an award from science competition and abstract presented at conference). However, I have seen some conflicting points about whether to include it in the work/activities section and total research hours since I did not continue this high school... Networking with out of state programs
Anyone have advice on how I can network out of my region during M1 and M2 years? I'm interested in matching in a region far away from where I am going to med school Should I go to conferences and do research there? For M3 and M4 it's a no brainer to do away rotations over there. I got into 4 schools with a 3.3 GPA, sub 3.0 sGPA and an 18 AA. AMA?
With the cycle opening up, I just wanted to let my fellow "low-stat" applicants know that there is hope!!! Good luck preparing for application szn soon!! Besides those stats, I also had 400+ volunteer hours and tons of shadowing and clinic hours. I worked as a peds DA and an endo DA, have been in two research labs, had lots of leadership positions, and presented my research at a national conference in undergrad. I took a gap year too. Shadowing for malpractice cases in NY
Hello everyone, I am PGY-4, interested on shadowing/working on Malpractice/Litigation cases so as to learn more about the process involved and in a way looking it as an opportunity to learn from it about ways of safeguarding oneself from these kind of events. Would really appreciate if someone could recommend me about any such kind of shadowing opportunities in NY or any refs for book/conference exclusively dealing with such. Thanks in advance.
