Anyone else feeling happy the chains in certain areas are desperate for employees?
I don’t know what other regional markets are experiencing at this time , but here in South FL there is a massive exodus of pharmacists and technicians from the big chains . Walgreens and CVS are losing pharmacy personnel , pharmacies are closed , no coverage available - a complete nightmare . One of my RxOMs was on a conference call the other day concerning conducting interviews for potential new employees . A pharmacist colleague of mine has informed me that some new grads who were just... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on ?research
I have a question that I was hoping to get some general feedback for. I am currently a M3, and I've realized over med school that I hate research. I used to think I hated wetlabs, but nope, its really just research in general. That being said, I've done enough to at least get an abstract and present a poster at a conference. I've been trying to continue to finish the work I've already done for a paper during my clinical year, but I've been super unmotivated and moving painfully slowly... Membership in Honorary/Professional Societies on ERAS
If you paid for membership of societies like the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) or the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and have attended their national conferences would you add them in the "Membership in Honorary/Professional Societies" section? Or should you be in a leadership position in these organizations if you list them in ERAS in this section? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I include IR research in application if applying only to DR?
I am applying solely to DR. However, I have 2 conference abstracts in IR (one was accepted at SIR). Would including them in my app come across as being interested in IR and thus be viewed unfavorably by some DR programs who may assume I'm also applying to IR and see them as backups? (I did the IR project because I was asked to participate by the PI and I had never done a QI project before so thought it'd be a cool experience. Also at the time thought potentially could be helpful for DR app.) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should this be included in my update letter?
Hello everyone! I plan on sending an update to medical schools over the next few weeks. Basically, I have another published paper and a few abstracts at an upcoming orthopedic conference. In addition, the startup that I work with got a Series A investment ($20 M). While I didn't give the actual pitch, I was instrumental in the QC of it as well as boosting the reviews/ratings on our product. Do you think this would be appropriate to include? I don't want to come off as "too much business,"... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

GI conferences
Hey ya'll. Need advice. My first GI research project went to shambles so I am working on a second one. I anticipate I will be done with data collection by Oct 1 after which I will have time for analysis and writing it up. My question is- what conferences should I aim to submit this to? Please let me know. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Conference presentations v. invited talks and reducing conference activity?
This thread is brought to you by the fact that proposals for a conference that I've attended before are due today, and I'm still debating whether to submit some or not, heh. Lately, I've just felt a bit burned out on the conference game, probably due to a year and a half of them being online (which is wonderful for finance and accessibility; meh for social and entertainment value) and because I've somehow ended up getting a good number of invited speaker invites over the past 12 months or so... Anyone else really picky about how their name appears on publications?
I have an ultra-common first name-last name combo--so common in fact that there's another academic with the same name who does vaguely similar research (we both went to the same small, selective conference once and had to explain to the conference chairs twice that we were, in fact, different people). As a result, I'm really insistent about having my middle initial included on all articles that I'm an author on, to the point where I'll send back copyright forms if my middle initial not... When to send update letter?
Hey all, I’ve been turning in secondaries since early June and turned my last one in ~2 weeks ago. Of course since that time, I’ve received two 3rd author pubs, had two presentations accepted at a medical conference and have began reviewing manuscripts in a medical journal. I don’t expect any new updates in the near future with the exception of abstract decisions for more conferences come October/November. Should I submit updates to schools now? Or is it too soon and I should wait? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
