Oral presentation vs moderated poster session
I submitted an abstract to a conference which was accepted as a moderated poster presentation. It seems like this involves a recorded presentation that will be played during the conference. I am not sure if this is a new thing conferences are doing for COVID, but on a CV would this go under poster presentation, oral presentation, or as its own section? How about for ERAS? Weighting of Publications and Abstracts in ERAS
Current MS1 here. I have a quick question about ERAS ( I know it's early but figured I should learn this now). From what I've heard, abstracts, conferences, and actual peer reviewed publications all fall under the block of "publications" and that ERAS somehow computes a score from this. Therefore, my question is, do residency directors actually sort out the actual peer reviewed publications from the other items mentioned in the "publication" list. Additionally, how important is this overall... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is worth an update? How to write a letter of continued interest? Who should letters of interest be sent to at this point?
Is an abstract/poster accepted for presentation at a conference worthy of an update during COVID?: In October, an abstract I wrote was accepted for publication in the SUPPLEMENT to a journal and for a poster presentation at a national conference. The corresponding poster was also presented virtually (no live presentation--it was literally just my poster in a gallery of posters on an online gallery lol). Also, this poster was not super basic-sciency/and in my opinion was not a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SMP advice/question
I'm considering an SMP with linkage as I've applied to some DO schools regularly this cycle, but wasn't expecting much going in. For reference I'm ORM, stats are 3.3 cgpa, 3.2 science gpa, and a 501 mcat (third attempt over a span of two years, just don't see retaking being fruitful with the immense stress it's caused already). ECs are lackluster with a couple hundred hours of research with an abstract publication/presentation at a conference, and less than 100 hours of hospital volunteering... Emergency Radiology Job
What the pros and cons of a one week on two week off Emergency Radiology job?. Will you be required to do additional plain film shifts on top of this? Is the salary on par with other specialties? I want to get a private practice job and I want to get a low-stress fellowship (not one of these fellowships where you have to do weekly didactics and conferences). Are there fellowships out there geared for more private practice jobs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

President Trump at Walter Reed
I haven't been on this forum for a long time, but I just had to come on to vent. Tell me if you agree with me or not. I'm happy that President Trump was at Walter Reed over the weekend, and I'm sure he was getting great care. What bothers me is this press conference. Can anyone tell me why none of the staff are in uniform? Most of them are wearing scrubs, for a press conference, outside of the hospital! I realize these days it is acceptable to go to the... To do HPSP or to not...
Hi everyone, I just had a zoom conference call with a recruiter from the HPSP. Everything seemed to be painted like sunshine and rainbow up until I logged into SDN and read some threads about dentists that have gone through the HPSP route and HATED IT! Actually, there were several threads of people saying how terrible it actually is. However, one thing i did notice is that they were really old threads so i wanted to see if anyone who has recently gone through the HPSP has any advice or... To do HPSP or to not... Am I considered a first-author?
I had a question on whether or not I am the first-author of my research poster. This was for an undergraduate research forum at my state university. The conference was supposed to be in-person, however, it ended up going online. Anyways, the poster is online for anyone to see. The current author name is listed as follows: graduate student^1, me^2, and PI^3 However, I've been thinking and I think it should have been me^1, graduate student^2, and PI^3. I need help figuring out whether or... Am I considered a first-author? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Research poster
I just had a research poster, in which I am a middle authors, presented at a national conference. Is this something that I should include in the secondary prompt, “is there anything you’d like to add?” or should I just email each school individually and ask them to add the poster to my application? Or should I just do nothing? The poster was presented after I submitted my primary so it’s not on my primary. Thank you! @Goro @LizzyM... Research poster (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Residency director virtual meet and greet at national conference
OMS II here, before covid, I wasn’t planning on attending the national conference for my preferred specialty but now it’s all virtual. So, I’m planning on attending some talks that are med student relevant. My question is about attending the residency director meet and greet, I don’t really want to attend to give more room for 3rd and 4th years to make sure they get a good amount of time with directors, is there any reason why it would be good for me to attend?
