What's my chance? And can I use the old LORs?
To all, I am an US-DO graduate. I graduated from a community residency program 5 years ago, no research just 3 cardio poster presentations at regional conferences. Back then I planned to apply to cardio so I obtained several "strong, personal" LORs from atrending included from 2 cardiologists who I rotated with. However, with unexpexted family issues, the plan postponed, didn't apply, went straight to work as hospitalist. Then, I got accepted to CCM fellowship in a year ago, currently a... Too many tumor conferences!
At my current hospital (non-academic) we are now up to 8 tumor conferences, 10 total if you count placenta and M&M! What’s next…toenail conference? At some of these, they’re presenting 10+ patients. Granted, some are bi-weekly or monthly; and, it’s divided between my colleagues, but it’s been ramping up in frequency and subspecialty over the years. I think money is a factor i.e. being an accredited breast, thoracic, etc. center = grants/state funding. Whatever happened to the days when there... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Listing Accepted( but withdrawn) Conference Abstract on ERAS
Hi all: Hope you're doing well. I have a rather unique circumstance. An oncology project I've been working on( not first-author) was accepted by a major conference for "online publication only". However, the first author( not me) decided to withdraw the "accepted" abstract to provisionally re-submit it to another major conference later in the year in hopes of being able to present her work. Would there be a way to list the "accepted" abstract on ERAS without misrepresenting the situation? I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Naomi Osaka
The F U fund is often mentioned in this forum. Naomi Osaka has both F U money and F U talent. She wants to play tennis, not trot out for their stupid and extraneous dog and pony show. not listed as author on published conference abstract, but was second-author on poster presentation?
I worked unpaid on a project for a researcher that came back from maternity leave. I was asked to pick up the work and in return, she would give me authorship. I never heard back, but the abstract was submitted without my name and accepted for a conference. She then presented the poster at the conference with my name as second-author. The abstracts of posters at this conference were published digitally. My name is nowhere to be found there. If you were to search up this abstract, you would... USMD - Matching fellowship from community IM program
Hi, I am an incoming PGY-1 at a community program who has aspirations of matching a procedural specialty. My current program does not have a PCCM or GI fellowship (my current interests) and I am worried about my prospects of matching fellowship. I have some research (1 abstract in GI, 1 abstract in cards from years ago, poster presentation at my med schools conference), step 1/2 238/258. I, unfortunately, fell pretty far down my ROL past my university programs. Have been pretty bummed... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
