Take Medicine Back
If any of you guys are interested there is a small grassroots movement that’s been around for a couple of years made of physicians and some lawyers helping us who’s mission is to try and take Medicine back from PE and other corporate entitities. There is a FaceBook Group as well as a Website. It discusses the Corporation practice of Medicine and how it’s illegal in many states but of course ignored in the interest of money. I did a virtual conference w them two weekends ago and it was... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Texas physician intraining permit after termination
Hello All, My question to all is regarding Physician In-training permit in texas. My story basically is that I was a resident 22 months into training, when I made an honest yet detrimental mistake of allowing my husband, who is a resident at a different hospital to come on hospital campus. I was under the impression that he had some shadowing privelleges, however he did not, due to that he ended up observing two procedures. He wanted to attend a conference for which i lent him my ID, he... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's with everyone saying "kiddos" now?
At some point during my graduate school training (nearly finished with internship now), I started hearing the pediatric-focused students start saying "kiddos" instead of "child/children," "kids," "adolescents," etc. I don't know how, but it was like a switch was flipped and EVERYONE started doing it. I assumed it was maybe just my program, until I started hearing people at other schools, people at conferences, etc. doing this as well. There's nothing wrong with this, but I'm so... Low Class Rank/Decent GPA - Peds Residency?
Hey folks, long time lurker but first time posting. I’m a D4 with a 3.8 GPA and recently checked my class rank. Turns out I’m in the bottom 10% of my class. Absolutely crushed at first to hear this, but also shocked because I thought I was doing ok. I was hoping to apply to residency this summer (peds), but I don’t even know where I stand anymore after seeing my class rank. I was super involved with extracurriculars all 4 years, did research, went to many conferences, so the other parts of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does my research matter?
I conducted clinical research experiments before medical school, but my lab was old school and wasn’t in the habit of letting techs publish. That is, until my last several months there. I did some data analysis to try to publish an abstract but didn’t get it done before school started. However, over the past year I’ve been put as a middle author on several poster and abstracts presented at conferences. I’m doing research in my current field of interest, but was wondering if these... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DEI Litmus Tests For Conferences
Well, I was asked to submit a session by ASTRO and was about to hit submit and this was the last thing that came up: There are no questions about whether 1) this is a treatment that is accessible by all, regardless of practice setting 2) whether it a potentially cost-effective treatment 3) whether there is a strong industry push to do this treatment over others 4) it advances the field of radiation oncology. It is very sad that this is so crucial to their mission. How can we... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Networking at a conference?
Hi everyone, I recently learned I'll be able to attend the SNMA region 1 RMEC in January! I have never attended a conference before and in addition to attending the various workshops, I'm hoping to network with a few schools while I'm there (per some of the advice I received in my WAMC. Do you all have any tips or recommendations in terms of making the best out of the weekend? Besides dressing business casual and smiling a lot I'm not really sure where to start! Thank you in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Won a new year's six bowl during undergrad. Does that count in the awards/honors section of a CV?
or is that intended only for research/school/academic awards? Should I only mention it in the ECs section, under the football entry? I don't want to look like an idiot, I just don't have any other awards or honors, aside from conference academic honor rolls. I'm apply to residency this next cycle, and need to send my CV to a couple people and for AIs in a few months. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
