anesthesia ski conference
I've been doing the University of Utah Anesthesia update for several years - it's a great conference. I'm looking for another conference during the winter at a ski location. Thoughts? Any anesthesia conferences in Colorado? Whistler? Others at Park City? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How often does an orthodontist get off for vacation?
Seeing as most orthodontists own their own practice, I'm curious about how taking vacation works. The orthodontist I shadowed today talked about not being able to take much vacation ( only 1 time - 2 weeks off during Christmas and several maximum 3-4 days off to go to conference etc...). He works 5 days a week, goes to work from 7:30 am to 5 pm. His office is busy often seeing 40-50 pt a day. Is there an average number of weeks of vacation in ortho? Does this situation change much as an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

IgNS 2022 conference
Is anyone here going to the IgNS conference in Washington DC this year? Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences in past conferences since this will be my first time attending. The world of Ig/specialty home infusion is really interesting and I look forward to meeting others in this field. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Abstract accepted to national conference for poster presentation
Hi all!! I'm new to research and not sure about alot of the terminology. An abstract I am coauthor on got accepted to a national conference for poster presentation. Would this abstract count as publication? They publish the abstract on their website afterwards, I believe. I wrote in my primary that I submitted the abstract to the conference and just recently got news that we have been accepted. Is this something that is worth an update later on? Is a poster presentation as relevant as... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I graduated with a Biology degree and now wish to be a Clinical Psychologist?
For a while, I wanted to go to med school or PA school, but over the past year, I decided it wasn't for me. I didn't do research in undergrad, as the only research that ever interested me was psychology-based, and the more experienced psych students often took those. I did an independent study on bipolar/schizophrenia, which I presented at my school's psych conference and wrote a long paper that is not published (though I could try publishing it?). Currently, I am applying for research... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When to send updates to schools
I just published two first-author papers, presented a first-author poster at a conference, and published an article in a magazine. When should I update schools that I have already submitted a secondary to? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Secondary: Overcoming a Challenge Prompt
Hi all - I hope everyone is doing well! I am struggling on what topic to pick for my overcoming a challenge prompt. As many, I've faced so many challenges in my life and all are meaningful to me in different ways. One challenge that I struggled with a lot in college and impacted some of my opportunities was having severe vocal nodules. I would not be able to speak for days or sometimes weeks, and this would be very unpredictable. I had to give up many opportunities to speak at conferences... Creative ways to spend CME?
My "not for profit" "academic" hospital system has gone fill third reich, and while C-suite admins can still make 1 mil+, us lowly pit docs have had our CME accounts severely restricted. We can no longer use the money for conferences, and cannot use it for any equipment, or hardware (computers, ultrasounds, etc.). They've also gotten smart to the CME packages that offer gift cards. I don't want to buy textbooks. They're essentially trying to re-capture funds that are contractually owed... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
