How to demonstrate interest as a first-year DO student?
I'm a first-year DO student at an established program in the East Coast. I'm very interested in pursuing neurology, and I would like to know what I can do at this point to show interest in the field outside of research (school doesn't have any). My class rank after the first semester is right in the middle. I've applied to join the AAN for any news on conferences/research. I've heard that school club membership is kind of pointless in the eyes of PDs. Additionally, how important is research... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone at SA Breast?
I’m getting live texts and screen shots from my breast MO who’s at the conference. IDEA just presented 5 year data and she’s asking if we can quit radiating all low risk er+ patients over 50 now???? I said hell no, way to early of a follow up period and we do apbi on all these patients now anyway so why take away something that lowers LRR and has virtually no side effects, especially when there’s a real question about AI compliance. This is why I have been doing APBI from day 1. I knew this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Financial Advisor Recommendations
Does anyone have any recommendations for financial advisors? Specifically, does anyone have experience with Doctors Wealth Care? I came across this group at an afternoon conference while on an audition a few months ago and they are tailored specifically for physicians. They do a side gig of student loan advising for free which is how they appear to rope in business long term. I like them and they seem knowledgeable. However, every time I talk to them about my loans they are selling all the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it worth submitting an update about two publications (previously listed in the AMCAS application as under review) that got accepted to journals?
I also have a new abstract submission for a conference and a new publication that is under review. I keep hearing different opinions on update letters what counts as a significant update to adcoms and whether it matters at all. I am currently waiting to hear from a t5 school that does not release decisions until Feb/March and wondering if I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Update Letter Question
Hi everyone, I sent in an update letter yesterday to my top choice school about several updates since submitting my application, including two abstracts that were accepted to two international conferences, my poster presentations at these conferences, a $3,000 scholarship I was fortunate enough to receive from a hospital in my area for community service (1/5 recipients), and a few other leadership roles I have taken up. In this letter, I chose to focus on strictly talking about updates... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship
Hello I am interested in applying to a forensic psychiatry fellowship. I did not get much experience in my general residency and only had experience at the Juvenile Justice System for my CAP fellowship. During fellowship it was more clinical exposure than forensics per se. I always had an interest in psychiatry and the law, attended UC Davis: CAP and the Law series of case conferences (which were amazing) and it wasn't until the tail end of my CAP fellowship that I decided to apply for the...
