Oerskovia flava sp. nov., a deoxynivalenol (DON)-degrading actinomycete isolated from the rhizosphere soil of long-term continuous cropping cucumber
Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2024 Apr 27;117(1):73. doi: 10.1007/s10482-024-01972-y.ABSTRACTThe deoxynivalenol (DON)-degrading bacterium JB1-3-2 T was isolated from a rhizosphere soil sample of cucumber collected from a greenhouse located in Zhenjiang, Eastern China. The JB1-3-2 T strain is a Gram-stain-positive, nonmotile and round actinomycete. Growth was observed at temperatures between 15 and 40 ℃ (optimum, 35 ℃), in the presence of 15% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 3%), and at pH 3 and 11 (optimum, 7). The major cellular fatty acids identified were anteiso-C15:0, iso-C16:0 and anteiso-C17:0. Genome sequencing revealed a genome...

Childhood maltreatment, parenting style and anxiety in Chinese youths: A case-control study
CONCLUSIONS: Major findings of this study suggested that children and adolescents who had experienced EA or raised up by over-protective parents are at increased risk of AD. Targeted intervention measures should be developed and implemented for these high-risk youths.PMID:38677178 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2024.106807 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

Discovery of drug targets based on traditional Chinese medicine microspheres (TCM-MPs) fishing strategy combined with bio-layer interferometry (BLI) technology
In this study, a traditional Chinese medicine microspheres (TCM-MPs) target fishing strategy was developed to discover the key drug targets from complex system. The microspheres are composed of Fe3O4 magnetic nanolayer, oleic acid modified layer, the photoaffinity group (4- [3-(Trifluoromethyl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl] benzoic acid, TAD) layer and active small molecule layer from inside to outside. TAD produces highly reactive carbene under ultraviolet light, which can realize the self-assembly and fixation of drug active small molecules with non-selective properties. Here, taking Shenqi Jiangtang Granules (SJG) as an example, th...

The experiences of family resilience in patients with permanent colostomy and their spouses: A dyadic qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Couples living with permanent colostomy often undergo a complex emotional journey, experiencing varied levels of individual stress as they navigate social interactions and daily activities, which can contribute to a decline in family adaptation. With the help of the perspective of family advantage, health practitioners should pay attention to the evaluation of individual factors and family environmental resources, to fully mobilize advantage resources and give effective interventions to improve the family and social adaptation level of patients and their spouses.PMID:38677217 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2024.102590 (...

Bear Bile Powder Improves Ulcerative Colitis by Protecting the Intestinal Mechanical Barrier and Regulating Intestinal Flora
CONCLUSION: Oral administration of a certain dose of BBP can significantly improve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis in mice. Part of the reason may be that it increases the expression of tight junction proteins, regulates specific flora in the intestine of mice, and maintains intestinal barrier homeostasis. In the future, the clinical application value of BBP will be explored, and BBP will be developed as a drug with the potential to treat UC and alleviate the pain of UC patients.PMID:38676524 | DOI:10.2174/0113816128294893240403074953 (Source: Current Pharmaceutical Design)

Oenothera biennis with strong copper toxicity resistance enriches trace copper in seeds under copper pollution soil
Ecotoxicol Environ Saf. 2024 Apr 25;277:116382. doi: 10.1016/j.ecoenv.2024.116382. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExcess copper (Cu) imparts negative effects on plant growth and productivity in soil. To develop the ability of O. biennis to govern pollution soil containing excessive Cu, we investigated seed germination, seedling growth, and seed yield. Furthermore, Cu content and the expression levels of Cu transport related genes in different tissues were measured under exogenous high concentration Cu. O. biennis seeds were sensitive to excess Cu, with an observed reduction in the germination rate, primary root length, fres...

Short-term exposures to PM < sub > 2.5 < /sub > , PM < sub > 2.5 < /sub > chemical components, and antenatal depression: Exploring the mediating roles of gut microbiota and fecal short-chain fatty acids
CONCLUSION: Our study highlights that Enterococcus may mediate the associations between PM2.5, PM2.5 chemical components, and antenatal depression. The mediating mechanism through which the gut microbiota influences PM2.5-induced depression in pregnant women still needs to be further studied.PMID:38677066 | DOI:10.1016/j.ecoenv.2024.116398 (Source: Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety)

Impression life with pulmonary hypertension: clinically relevant characteristics and quality of life among patients in Gansu, China
CONCLUSION: HRQoL was substantially reduced among PAH patients in the resource-limited area, mainly the physiological functions. WHO-FC and anxiety scores were independently associated with both PCS and MCS in SF-36. Clinicians should make reasonable rehabilitation programs and plans for patients according to their cardiac function grade and the severity of clinical symptoms. In addition, psychological interventions should also be taken, especially for those with anxiety symptoms, so as to improve their HRQoL.PMID:38676370 | PMC:PMC11055475 | DOI:10.1177/17534666241246428 (Source: Adv Data)

Impact of pollution prevention practices and Green Environmental practices on sustainable performance: Empirical evidence from Chinese SMEs
This study primarily looks into the factors that influence the adoption of green innovations by analysing the growth paths of Chinese SMEs operating in highly polluting industries over a longer time frame than five years. Artificial Intelligence is a valuable tool for solving the issues of ecological degradation. A quantitative method has been implemented for the Chinese companies' samples from the deeply polluting industries for more than five years. The findings of this paper advise that the average board size, the governing board meetings, and organisational performance are positively connected with the Chinese firms' e...
