Nat Prod Res. 2024 Apr 29:1-7. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2024.2347463. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTZanthoxylum nitidum is frequently used as a traditional Chinese medicine and food supplement. Our previous study revealed that its constituent compounds were able to inhibit cancer cell proliferation. In our continuous exploration of bioactive compounds in Z. nitidum, we isolated ten alkaloids (1-10), including one new natural compound (1), and nine known alkaloids (2-10), from an ethanolic extract of the whole plant. The chemical structures were elucidated based on a combination of comprehensive NMR and HRESIMS analyses. Compo...

Current status of liver transplantation for human immunodeficiency virus-infected patients in mainland China
This study provides an overview of the current landscape of HIV-positive patients receiving liver transplantation (LT) in mainland China. To date, our transplant center has conducted LT for eight end-stage liver disease patients co-infected with HIV, and all but one, who died two months postoperatively due to sepsis and progressive multi-organ failure, have survived. Comparative analysis with hepatitis B virus-infected patients during the same period revealed no statistically significant differences in acute rejection reactions, cytomegalovirus infection, bacteremia, pulmonary infections, acute kidney injury, new-onset can...

Women's Knowledge, Attitudes, and Perception on Personalized Risk-Stratified Breast Cancer Screening: A Cross-Sectional Study in Malaysia
CONCLUSION: General population's awareness of individualized risk-stratified breast cancer screening was insufficient despite their favourable attitude towards the disease. A multimodal strategy may be used to improve women's knowledge, attitude, and perception of individualized risk-stratified breast cancer screening.PMID:38679982 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1231 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

A Comprehensive Integration of Data Regarding the Correlation of TNF- α rs1800629 Polymorphism with Susceptibility to Cervical Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: The findings from this meta-analysis suggest that the TNF-α rs1800629 polymorphism is a risk factor for cervical cancer in the general population, particularly in Caucasian and African women. However, further well-designed studies are warranted to validate these findings.PMID:38679974 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1155 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Epidemiology of Uterine Cancer in Sarawak, Borneo, A 20-Year Review
CONCLUSION: The incidence of primary uterine cancer in Sarawak, Malaysia, has increased over the past 20 years, with higher incidence rates observed in older age groups and among Chinese women. The findings suggest the need for continued efforts to improve the prevention, early detection, and treatment of uterine cancer in Sarawak.PMID:38679973 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1143 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Exploring the effective compounds and potential mechanisms of Shengxian Decoction against coronary heart disease by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS and network pharmacology analysis
Heliyon. 2024 Apr 16;10(8):e29558. doi: 10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e29558. eCollection 2024 Apr 30.ABSTRACTAs a well-known classical Chinese medicine prescription, Shengxian Decoction (SXD) has been applied for a century to treat cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary heart disease (CHD), but the potentially effective compounds and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. With ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) and network pharmacology analysis, the potential effective compounds of SXD and their pharmacological mechanisms against CHD were identified and reveal...

Research trends and hotspots of circular RNA in cardiovascular disease: A bibliometric analysis
Noncoding RNA Res. 2024 Apr 16;9(3):930-944. doi: 10.1016/j.ncrna.2024.04.002. eCollection 2024 Sep.ABSTRACTFrom a global perspective, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the leading factor accounting for population mortality, and circRNAs, RNA molecules with stable closed-loop structures, have been proven to be closely related. The latent clinical value and the potential role of circRNAs in CVDs have been attracting increasing, active research interest, but bibliometric studies in this field are still lacking. Thus, in this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis by using software such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Microsoft E...

Diabetes and vascular mild cognitive impairment among Chinese ≥50 years: A cross‐sectional study with 2020 participants
ConclusionIn our study, we found that diabetes had a positive correlation with VaMCI, and high education had a negative correlation with VaMCI. Therefore, early identification and timely intervention of diabetes may reduce the risk of VaMCI and achieve early prevention of VaMCI. (Source: Brain and Behavior)
