Effects of ondansetron exposure during ICU stay on outcomes of critically ill patients with sepsis: a cohort study
ConclusionOND exposure might be associated with lower in-hospital, 28-day, and 90-day mortality rates in critically ill patients with sepsis. This study indicated that OND might help improve the prognosis of patients with sepsis. (Source: Frontiers in cellular and infection microbiology)

Anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive effects of sitagliptin in animal models and possible mechanisms involved in the antinociceptive activity
CONCLUSIONS: : NO/cGMP/KATP, 5HT3 and D2 pathways play an important role in the antinociceptive effect of sitagliptin. Additionally significant anti-inflammatory effects observed in the carrageenan test might contribute in reduction of pain response in the second phase of the formalin test.PMID:38123184 | DOI:10.3344/kjp.23262 (Source: Korean Journal of Pain)

Associations between ondansetron and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting and food intake in Japanese female undergoing laparoscopic gynecological surgery: a retrospective study
ConclusionOndansetron administration during surgery was significantly associated with decreased PONV risk but was not associated with food intake the day after surgery. (Source: Journal of Anesthesia)

Assessing the impact of aprepitant and ondansetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting in orthognathic surgeries: a randomized controlled trial
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common side effect associated with general anesthesia. Both ondansetron and aprepitant been effectively used to prevent PONV. However, there is a disagreement of o... (Source: BMC Anesthesiology)

The Incidence of Torsades de Pointes With Perioperative Triple Antiemetic Administration
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: No episodes of TdP were identified in patients receiving triple antiemetic therapy perioperatively, though the cause of death in 1 patient could not be determined. This suggest that low-dose triple antiemetic therapy is low risk for the development of TdP.PMID:38053391 | DOI:10.1177/10600280231215786 (Source: The Annals of Pharmacotherapy)

Breastfeeding women in need of information about antiemetics for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy: a review of inquiries to a medicines information service
Conclusion: Based on our small review of spontaneous inquiries, there seems to be an information need about the use of antiemetics during lactation among women breastfeeding an older infant whilst suffering from NVP or HG. Addressing such use in guidelines for NVP and HG and/or other easily available information sources may be considered in order to balance out the restrictive information provided by the manufacturers. This could avoid potential unnecessary weaning of breastfeeding in an otherwise challenging situation. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)
