Inhibition of Spinal 5-HT3 Receptor and Spinal Dorsal Horn Neuronal Excitability Alleviates Hyperalgesia in a Rat Model of Parkinson ’s Disease
In conclusion, the present study suggests that inhibition of spinal 5-HT3 receptor and SDH neuronal excitability alleviates hyperalgesia in PD rats. Our study provides a novel mechanism or therap eutic strategy for pain in patients with PD. (Source: Molecular Neurobiology)

A randomized controlled trial comparing incidences of postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy for preoperative intravenous fluid loading, ondansetron, and control groups in a regional hospital setting in a developing country
Conclusions: Neither the preoperative intravenous fluid loading nor the ondansetron affected PONV in patients aged 50 and older undergoing LC, compared with control. Ondansetron was beneficial for PON prophylaxis in patients under the age of 50, whereas preoperative intravenous fluid loading was considered a risk factor for PON in this population. The effect of newly designed dual-channel elastomeric pump for intravenous patient-controlled analgesia after total laparoscopic hysterectomy: a randomized, double-blind, prospective study
ConclusionsThe 2-channel PCA showed better patient satisfaction with higher QoR-40 during the recovery compared with the 1-channel PCA. Better satisfaction was associated with lower nausea and reduced rescue antiemetics by maintaining the infusion of adjuvant analgesic agents and antiemetic agents constantly by utilizing dual channels.Trial registrationRegistered atClinicalTrials.gov,NCT04082039 on 9 September 2019. 5-HT < sub > 3 < /sub > receptors modulate changes in voiding pattern and bladder contractility in water avoidance stress-induced bladder overactivity in male mice
CONCLUSIONS: Water avoidance stress-induced mice exhibited changes in voiding pattern, which was reversed by oral administration with a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist (ondansetron). Enhanced contractile response to cholinergic stimulation in the urinary bladder of the psychological stress-induced bladder overactivity was mediated through 5-HT3 receptors.PMID:36215921 | DOI:10.1016/j.autneu.2022.103040 (Source: Autonomic Neuroscience)
