Comparison of radiological and functional outcomes of conservative treatment with teriparatide and denosumab in thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral fracture
ConclusionsTeriparatide and denosumab, despite of their different pharmacological mechanisms, showed similar radiological deformation and functional outcomes in the conservative treatment of TL-OVF. However, teriparatide showed a significantly higher incidence of fracture union with paravertebral bone bridge formation. (Source: Osteoporosis International)

Relationship between Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw and CDK4/6 Inhibitors in Breast Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that the incidence of MRONJ in patients with metastatic breast cancer treated with denosumab is higher, and the onset of MRONJ occurs earlier in the presence of CDK4/6 inhibitors. The differences were statistically significant in the patients who used abemaciclib. Given that the use of this combination is very common in routine clinical practice, it would be advisable to carry out larger prospective studies to clarify the risk of this association.PMID:38248101 | PMC:PMC10814865 | DOI:10.3390/curroncol31010016 (Source: Current Oncology)

Denosumab, teriparatide and bisphosphonates for glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis: a Bayesian network meta-analysis
Conclusion: Teriparatide denosumab and the bisphosphonates are all effective in improving BMD for GIO patients. Based on this network meta-analysis, teriparatide and denosumab have higher efficiency in improving lumbar spine and femur neck BMD, and reducing vertebrae fracture.Systematic Review Registration:10.17605/OSF.IO/2G8YA, identifier CRD42023456305. Changes in mandibular radiomorphometric indices in osteoporosis patients treated with denosumab: a retrospective case-control study
Radiomorphometric indices measured on Dental Panoramic Radiography (DPR) can reflect Bone Mineral Density (BMD). The aim of our study is to evaluate changes in DPR radiographic markers in patients undergoing a... (Source: BMC Oral Health)

Differential effects of teriparatide, denosumab and zoledronate on hip structural and mechanical parameters in osteoporosis; a real-life study
ConclusionsAnalysis of the effect of OP therapies on hip geometry is useful in understanding the mechanisms of their anti-fracture effect and may provide additional information on their efficacy. (Source: Journal of Endocrinological Investigation)

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the lower jaw without osteolysis on computed tomography images
ConclusionsSurgical treatment yielded good treatment outcomes in most patients with mandibular MRONJ; however, the cure rate was lower in patients with malignancy who showed no osteolysis on CT images. (Source: Journal of Bone and Mineral Metabolism)

Bone mineral density fall during aromatase inhibitor treatment may predict lower breast cancer recurrence
ConclusionsThe findings suggest an association may exist between lumbar spine BMD change and breast cancer recurrence for patients treated with adjuvant AI. Further research is required to determine whether BMD change can be utilised as a biomarker. (Source: Cancer Medicine)

Denosumab use reduces risk of rheumatoid arthritis in patients with osteoporosis
CONCLUSIONS: Denosumab use reduces the risk of RA in patients with osteoporosis. Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) mediated osteoclast joint damage may be involved in the pathogenesis of RA during the preclinical stage.PMID:38179713 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/3ohsj3 (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Efficacy and safety of denosumab versus zoledronic acid in OI adults: A prospective, open-label, randomized study
CONCLUSION: Denosumab effectively increases aBMD in OI adults, with similar efficacy to zoledronic acid. Long-term and large-sample studies are needed to confirm the anti-fracture efficacy and safety of denosumab in adult OI patients.PMID:38181430 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae012 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)
