Causes of ischemic stroke in young adults versus non-young adults: A multicenter hospital-based observational study
CONCLUSIONS: Certain embolic sources and uncommon causes may be etiologically important causes of ischemic stroke in young adults. The study population of this retrospective cohort study consisted of patients with congestive HF, consecutively admitted to our center from October 2010 to April 2014. Stress-induced cardiomyopathy accompanied by heat stroke
We describe a case with high body temperature and coma, who also presented with wide QRS tachycardia and shock. He was initially treated for heat stroke and wide QRS tachycardia. Serial electrocardiographic change and echocardiographic findings suggested this was complicated with stress-induced cardiomyopathy. The contribution of systematic implementation of cardiovascular explorations for the detection of cardiac sources of embolism in patients with stroke: About 230  patients.
CONCLUSION: Cardiovascular explorations remain indispensable in the workup of all ischemic strokes even if their therapeutic effect is modest. The real world of stroke incidence in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
We have read a paper with great interest written by Fumagalli and colleagues concerning “the incidence of stroke in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) among different heart rhythm” [1]. In this paper, the authors found that stroke rates in HCM patients no prior history of atrial fibrillation (AF), stroke rates were similar in those with de novo AF or stable sinus rate (SR). And they further observed that severe left atrium dilatation was a powerful risk factor, irrespective of AF. The results provided evidence for the anticoagulation strategies to prevent stroke in patients with HCM.
