Low-dose dobutamine induces left ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and a narrow QRS: a study using real-time three-dimensional echocardiography.
CONCLUSIONS: Dobutamine may induce LV mechanical dyssynchrony in a substantial proportion of patients with DCM and a narrow QRS. In such cases, regional LV contractile reserve does not fully contribute to an increase in global LVSV. PMID: 23473770 [PubMed - in process]

Patients treated with catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia after an ICD shock have lower long-term rates of death and heart failure hospitalization than do patients treated with medical management only
Background: Ventricular arrhythmias in patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) adversely affect outcomes. Antiarrhythmic approaches to ventricular tachycardia (VT) have variable efficacy and may increase risk of ventricular arrhythmias, worsening cardiomyopathy, and death. Comparatively, VT ablation is an alternative approach that may favorably affect outcomes. Objective: To further explore the effect on long-term outcomes after catheter ablation of VT, we compared patients with history of ICD shocks who did not undergo ablation, patients with a history of ICD shocks that underwent ablation, and patient...

Mitral regurgitation in left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy assessed by cardiac MRI.
CONCLUSION: LVNC is associated with increased MR, as assessed using cMRI. LVNC is also associated with abnormalities in the papillary muscle anatomy, which may predispose to MR. PMID: 25799708 [PubMed - in process]

Early clinical and echocardiographic outcomes after SAPIEN 3 transcatheter aortic valve replacement in inoperable, high-risk and intermediate-risk patients with aortic stenosis
Conclusions The SAPIEN 3 THV system was associated with low rates of 30-day mortality and major/disabling stroke as well as low rates of moderate or severe paravalvular regurgitation. Trial Registration ClinicalTrials.gov #NCT01314313.

Septal Alcohol Ablation Versus Myectomy for Symptomatic Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy: Systematic Review and Meta ‐analysis
ConclusionCompared with SM, ASA is associated with lower peri ‐procedural mortality and stroke but higher rates of pacemaker implantations and re‐intervention. However, there was no difference between ASA and SM with regards to long‐term all‐cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality or SCD.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Clinical Characteristics, Treatment and Long-Term Outcomes of Patients with Right-Sided Cardiac Thrombus
CONCLUSIONS: Right-sided cardiac thrombus is rare but may have potentially life-threatening complications such as PE and paradoxical stroke. Further research is needed to determine optimal therapeutic strategies in this poorly-studied population.PMID:35987512 | DOI:10.1016/j.hjc.2022.07.008

A causal relationship between irritability and cardiovascular diseases: a Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSION: Our findings support the first genetic evidence of the causality of genetically predicted irritability with the risk of developing into CVDs. Our results deliver a viewpoint that more early active interventions to manage an individual's anger and related unhealthy lifestyle habits are needed to prevent the occurrence of adverse cardiovascular events.PMID:37324625 | PMC:PMC10267866 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1174329
