Impact of Sarcopenia on Functional Outcomes Among Patients With Mild Acute Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack: A Retrospective Study
ConclusionsIn this study, the prevalence of sarcopenia in patients with stroke was lower than most of previous studies and patients with sarcopenia showed higher likelihood for unfavorable functional outcomes at 90 days after acute ischemic stroke or TIA. Further investigation of the interventions for treating sarcopenia and its impact on the outcome of ischemic stroke patients is needed.

Triglyceride-glucose index as a prognostic marker after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack: a prospective observational study
CONCLUSIONS: TyG index is associated with cervicocerebral atherosclerosis and the MACE risk after a stroke, suggesting the potential value of TyG index to optimize the risk stratification of stroke patients. Fasting insulin concentrations and incidence of hypertension, stroke, and coronary heart disease: a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies.
CONCLUSIONS: A higher fasting insulin concentration or hyperinsulinemia was significantly associated with an increased risk of hypertension and CHD but not stroke. This meta-analysis suggests that early fasting insulin ascertainment in the general population may help clinicians identify those who are potentially at high risk of CVD. Linagliptin enhances neural stem cell proliferation after stroke in type 2 diabetic mice.
In conclusion, we found no correlation between acute neuroprotection (occurring in both T2D and normal mice) and increased NSC proliferation (occurring only in T2D mice). However, our results show that linagliptin evokes a differential response on NSC proliferation after stroke in normal and T2D mice suggesting that DPP-4 inhibition effect in the CNS might go beyond the well known increase of GLP-1. Insulin resistance and elevated c-reactive protein among first-degree relatives of ischemic stroke patients
Conclusion First-degree relatives of ischemic stroke patients exhibited hyperinsulinemia, Insulin resistance and dyslipidemia. Insulin resistance, a low grade inflammatory state that leads to increased C-reactive protein which triggers the development of atherosclerosis. So screening for insulin resistance and dyslipidemia in first-degree relatives of ischemic stroke patients may help in preventing adverse vascular events.

Incidence of myocardial infarction and stroke in acromegaly patients: results from the German Acromegaly Registry
ConclusionsFor acromegaly patients being treated at specialized centres, the incidence of MIs and strokes does not seem to differ from the general population. Certainty regarding such statements requires large, prospective studies however.
