Coagulation markers and functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke: Impact of intensive versus standard hyperglycemia control
CONCLUSIONS: Intensive glucose control induced greater alterations in coagulation biomarkers than standard treatment, and these were associated with a favorable functional outcome at 3 months after AIS.PMID:34278192 | PMC:PMC8279129 | DOI:10.1002/rth2.12563

The Exosomal MicroRNA Profile Is Responsible for the Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Transplantation-Induced Improvement of Functional Recovery after Stroke in Rats
Conclusion: We confirmed that MSC transplantation repaired stroke-induced functional impairments in rats by regulating various pathways associated with nervous system protection and MSC differentiation through the deregulation of exosomal miRNAs.Neuroimmunomodulation

Predictive Value of Insulin Resistance as Determined by Homeostasis Model Assessment in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Horm Metab Res 2021; 53: 746-751 DOI: 10.1055/a-1648-7767Studies on association between homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and adverse outcomes have yielded conflicting results in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This meta-analysis aimed to assess the predictive value of HOMA-IR in AIS patients. Two authors comprehensively searched PubMed and Embase databases until February 28, 2021. All observational studies investigating the association between HOMA-IR and adverse outcomes in AIS patients were included. Outcome measures were poor functional outcome (Modified Rankin Scaleā‰„3), all-caus...

2-1-2 stroke microsurgical thrombectomy technique as a tertiary/salvage treatment option
CONCLUSIONS: 2-1-2 MST technique can be rapidly and efficaciously performed in a systemized manner offering a tertiary or salvage technique for acute stroke treatment. Specific microsurgical training is mandatory to accomplish this treatment and larger studies are necessary to confirm our hypothesis.PMID:35147401 | DOI:10.23736/S0390-5616.21.05480-1
