Enhanced activity of ADAMTS13 variant (R568K/F592Y/R660K/Y661F/Y665F) against platelet agglutination in vitro and in a murine model of acute ischaemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: The limited proteolytic activity of WT ADAMTS13 in in vitro models of arterial thrombosis suggests an in vivo requirement for conformational activation. The enhanced activity of the GoF ADAMTS13 variant translates to a more pronounced protective effect in experimental stroke. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. Paroxysmal Sympathetic Hyperactivity after Surgery for Cerebral Hemorrhagic Arteriovenous Malformation: A Case Report
Paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity is a condition involving a sudden increase in body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, sweating, and posturing followed by severe brain injury. Most of the reported preceding disorders involve head trauma, followed by anoxic brain injury, and stroke. Here, we report an extremely rare case of 17-year-old man diagnosed with hemorrhagic arteriovenous malformation, underwent emergent surgery, was on prolonged sedation due to postoperative complications, and subsequently developed paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity.

Conclusion: While the integrated, per capita, exposure of PM for a large fraction of the first-world may be less than 1 mg per day, links between several syndromes, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, loss of cognitive function, anxiety, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hypertension, stroke, and PM exposure have been suggested. Genetic variability of SRC family kinases and its association with platelet hyperreactivity and clinical outcomes: a systematic review.
