Knockdown of neurotrophin receptor-interacting melanoma-associated antigen homolog inhibits acute myeloid leukemia cell growth via the ERK pathway
In this study, NRAGE was identified as a tumor promoter in AML, which had an effect on cell proliferation, cell survival, and cell cycle through the ERK signaling pathway in AML cells.PMID:37635487 | DOI:10.4103/cjop.CJOP-D-22-00162

3-deazaneplanocin A, a histone methyltransferase inhibitor, improved the chemoresistance induced under hypoxia in melanoma cells
In conclusion, a histone methyltransferase EZH2 inhibitor, DZNep was capable of tackling acquired chemoresistance via the suppression of histone methylation induced under hypoxic tumor microenvironment.PMID:37542772 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbrc.2023.08.003

Glycolysis regulator PFKP induces human melanoma cell proliferation and tumor growth
ConclusionCollectively, these results indicate that PFKP expression in melanoma cells increases proliferation and glycolytic activity in vitro and promotes tumorigenesis in vivo, suggesting that suppression of PKFP and inhibition of glycolysis may potently suppress melanoma progression.

Inflammasomes during SARS-CoV-2 infection and development of their corresponding inhibitors
Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to be a burden for human health since its outbreak in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Recently, the emergence of new variants of concerns (VOCs) is challenging for vaccines and drugs efficiency. In severe cases, SARS-CoV-2 provokes inappropriate hyperinflammatory immune responses leading to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and even death. This process is regulated by inflammasomes which are activated after binding of the viral spike (S) protein to cellular angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor and triggers innate immune responses. Therefore, the formation of...

Advances in chitosan-based drug delivery systems in melanoma: A narrative review
Curr Med Chem. 2023 May 18. doi: 10.2174/0929867330666230518143654. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMelanoma accounts for the minority of skin cancer cases. However, it has the highest mortality rate among the subtypes of skin cancer. At the early stages of the disease, patients show a good prognosis after the surgery, but developing metastases leads to a remarkable drop in patients' 5-year survival rate. Despite the advances made in the therapeutic approaches to this disease, melanoma treatment is still facing several obstacles. Systemic toxicity, water insolubility, instability, lack of proper biodistribution, inadequate c...
