Dyeless iliac vein stenting.
CONCLUSION: Results of our study show no significant difference in stent thrombosis between the intravascular ultrasound-only and intravascular ultrasound plus venogram cohorts. This concludes that using intravascular ultrasound alone is safe for iliac vein stenting. PMID: 32990527 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

4:21 PM Abstract No. 136 Use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound after computed tomography –guided microwave ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma in our practice with magnetic resonance imaging and pathologic correlation
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a low cost and effective imaging modality that is accessible immediately post procedure which allows the clinician to instantly perform additional ablation of the tumor if a residual tumor is detected. CEUS can be an alternative to contrast enhanced CT in patients with underlying renal disease or iodine allergy. The purpose of this abstract is to share our experience with use of contrast enhanced ultrasound after microwave ablation for HCC with MRI correlation and posttransplant pathology.

Contrast enhanced ultrasound characterization of surgically resected renal masses in patients on dialysis.
Conclusions: In this sample of surgically resected tumors, CEUS was effective in characterizing renal lesions as solid neoplasms or complex cystic lesions suspicious for neoplasm-findings which merit further investigation. PMID: 31549563 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Antibiotic-Induced Disruption of Gut Microbiota Alters Local Metabolomes and Immune Responses
In conclusion, our study indicated that 3 weeks antibiotic administration induced elevated expression of many cytokines in mouse colon, suggesting that there might be a direct interaction between antibiotics and host tissue. Furthermore, different antibiotics used can lead to different effects on mouse models. Broad spectrum antibiotic enrofloxacin had a stronger effect on the cytokines response in the colon. Vancomycin can induce significant changes in composition and metabolic profiling of gut microbiota. Compared to enrofloxacin and vancomycin, polymixin B sulfate had a weakest effect. The differences observed in compos...

Post-surgical Thyroid Bed Pyoderma Gangrenosum Mimicking Recurrent Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
Conclusion: This case of thyroid bed PG supports the idea that PG reflects a cutaneous phenotype encompassed in the spectrum of systemic neutrophilic diseases. Endocrinologists should be aware that thyroid bed PG involvement is an albeit rare differential diagnosis to consider in patients who had undergone thyroid surgery, especially with a history of PG. Introduction Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the main variant of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), is the most common thyroid cancer, accounting for 70–80% of all thyroid carcinomas and occurring predominantly in women, generally with a good progn...

Focused Ultrasound Improves NK-92MI Cells Infiltration Into Tumors
Conclusion In conclusion, we demonstrated that the combination of FUS and microbubbles could increase the NK-92MI cells’ infiltration into tumors in this study. The combination of FUS and NK-92MI had a much better therapeutic effect when compared with the PBS group, but no superior therapeutic effect when compared with the NK-92MI group. In total, FUS and microbubbles can improve NK cells’ infiltration into tumors, but future work is still needed to improve NK-92MI cells’ delivery efficiency for solid tumor treatment. Ethics Statement This study was carried out in accordance with the recommendations...

Plant-Derived Alkaloids: The Promising Disease-Modifying Agents for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Conclusion This paper summarizes the current findings regarding the anti-colitis activity of plant-derived alkaloids and shows how these alkaloids exhibit significant and beneficial effects in alleviating colonic inflammation. These natural alkaloids are not only promising agents for IBD treatment but are also components for developing new wonder drugs. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms or toxicological evaluation of most plant-derived alkaloids still require much scientific research, and their actual efficacies for IBD patients have not been verified well in field research. Thus, further clinical trials to elu...

Lactobacillus plantarum KLDS1.0318 Ameliorates Impaired Intestinal Immunity and Metabolic Disorders in Cyclophosphamide-Treated Mice
Conclusion In conclusion, the present study showed that the oral administration of L. plantarum KLDS1.0318 normalized the parameters altered by CTX-induced toxicities, strengthening intestinal health by regulating the Th1/Th2 balance, ameliorating the intestinal morphology and improving profiles of intestinal microbiota and metabolism. Therefore, our findings suggested that the administration of L. plantarum KLDS1.0318 could be of significant advantage in reducing intestinal immunity impairment caused by cyclophosphamide. Ethics Statement This study was carried out according to the Animal Care Review Committee, Northeas...

Local infiltration anaesthesia versus sciatic nerve and adductor canal block for fast-track knee arthroplasty: A randomised controlled clinical trial
BACKGROUND Local infiltration anaesthesia (LIA) was introduced as an innovative analgesic procedure for enhanced recovery after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, LIA has never been compared with analgesia based on an adductor canal catheter and a single-shot sciatic nerve block. OBJECTIVE To evaluate two analgesic regimens for TKA comparing mobility, postoperative pain and patient satisfaction. DESIGN Two-group randomised, controlled clinical trial. SETTING Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Charité Mitte, Germany between April and August 2017. PATIENTS Adults undergoing primary TKA u...
