What Are Causes of Childhood Interstital Lung Disease?
Discussion Interstitial lung disease in children (chILD) is less understood than adult interstitial lung disease (ILD) and is rare. Prevalence is ~ 0.13 to 16.2 per 100,000 children under age 17 years. chILD is an general term for respiratory disorders that are heterogeneous, chronic and impair lung function. While some define diffuse parenchymal lung disease (DPLD) separately, the term ILD usually encompases DPLD. chILD has variable definitions and is “usually diagnosed if three of the following features are present: 1) respiratory symptoms (cough, rapid and/or difficult breathing, and exercise intolerance), 2) res...

Could Transthoracic Ultrasound be useful to suggest a small airways disease in severe uncontrolled asthma?
CONCLUSION: TUS in severe uncontrolled asthma patients can provide useful information on the state of the peripheral lung, suggesting the execution of a second-line HRCT scan for better assessment of eventual alterations that may represent underlying causes of non-response to treatment.PMID:35643297 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2022.05.024

Applications of vibrational energy in the treatment of sinonasal disease: A scoping review
ConclusionsVibration technology used in patients with sinonasal pathology has been shown to improve pain, sinonasal symptoms and radiologic outcome measures in small studies. Given the heterogeneous study populations and outcomes, no conclusion could be reached regarding overall effectiveness of acoustic energy as a primary treatment. Further research is required to study specific treatment indications in larger patient populations to fully understand the potential clinical benefit and to determine optimal therapeutic characteristics of sound energy. This article is protected by copyright. Insights into HM and PHM fellowship programs
A hospital medicine fellowship combines the best of hospital medicine with the opportunity for physicians to specialize early in their careers.  According to directors of successful programs at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Deaconess Hospital, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Akron Children’s Hospital, the best fellowship programs benefit the hospital as well as the fellow. These directors shared their ideas on creating and optimizing fellowships, notably in the establishment of pediatric hospital medicine (PHM) programs, which are a relatively new option. Opportunities for enrichment Dr. Fan...
