Focused Ultrasound Improves NK-92MI Cells Infiltration Into Tumors

In this study, we evaluated whether the combination of focused ultrasound (FUS) and microbubbles can improve adoptively NK-92MI cell infiltration into ovarian tumors through biodistribution, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry. The treatment effects of using this strategy twice a week were explored. The potential molecular mechanism of FUS assisting NK cell therapy was also initially explored through evaluating the expression of ICAM1 and CX3CL1 by qRT-PCR. Our results indicated that FUS and microbubbles can improve NK-92MI cells’ infiltration into tumors, and the combination of FUS and NK-92MI cells had a better treatment effect compared to the PBS group, but not compared to the NK-92MI group. The qRT-PCR results also showed that CX3CL1 may be involved in the process of FUS-assisted NK cell infiltration. These results indicate that further optimization of the FUS-assisted strategy is still needed to achieve therapeutic benefit. Introduction Natural killer (NK) cells are the first line of the body’s defense against tumors and play critical roles in tumor cell immunotherapy (Cheng et al., 2013; Davis et al., 2015). Specifically for tumor therapy, there are various sources of NK cells that can be used for NK cell therapy, such as iPSC-derived NK cells, peripheral blood mononuclear cells, cord blood-derived NK cells and NK cell lines (NK-92 and NK-92MI). Among them, NK-92MI is a preferable choice because it is “off-the-shelf,” homogenous and ea...

Our second aim was to gain insight into French people's representations of decent work using a qualitative approach. A representative sample of 300 French employees completed the DWS, as well as measu...

Dopamine is recognized as the key neuromodulator mediating various control-related processes. The neural mechanisms underlying the subjective perception of being in control, or Locus of Control (LOC) are however less clear. LOC indicates the subjective tendency to attribute environmental outcomes to one's actions (internal LOC) or instead to external ...

This article discusses the creation of the Norm and Deviance-Seeking Personal Orientation Scale (NDPOS). To create this sc ale, we studied the psychometric properties of the instrument using data from French workers. NDPOS exploratory analysis indicated a 12-item scale composed of four factors: normative conformity, normative rule adequacy, deviant performance seeking, and deviant proactivity seeking. Confirmatory facto r analysis corroborated the factorial structure in four sub-scales. Convergent and discriminant validity indicated that deviant dimensions were positively related to expressing voice, cognitive flexibility,...

ConclusionsThe relevance of SPARC expression in pancreato-biliary carcinomas though may still be important for therapeutic decision making, it is not responsible for peritumoral stromal desmoplasia in these tumors and it does not have any significant prognostic implication.

Objective: To compare the rate of malreduction after high fibular fractures associated with syndesmosis injury treated with open reduction and internal fixation, with either 2 screws or 1 knotless TightRope device. Design: Prospective randomized controlled multicenter trial. Setting: Eleven academic and community hospitals including Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers across Canada. Patients/Participants: One hundred three patients with OTA/AO 44-C injuries with demonstrated radiographic syndesmosis diastasis or instability after malleolar bony fixation were followed for 12 months after treatment. Methods: Ope...

Conclusions: In the context of high judicialization, patients suffering from PD must increasingly use the judicial system to access treatment. To promote more equitable and efficient access benefit packages, developing countries must consider more thoroughly the needs of these patients. PMID: 31627711 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
