D-dimer levels decline after immunosuppressive treatment rather than anticoagulant treatment in severe autoimmune chronic spontaneous urticaria
We report an omalizumab refractory case of severe CSU with high D-Dimer levels that declined only after disease remission with cyclosporine treatment but not with anticoagulation. Activation of coagulation cascade occurs secondary to the pro-inflammatory state in CSU patients and the correlation between D-dimer levels and disease activity may indicate the need for more studies to better understand the relationship of D-dimer levels and Omalizumab resistance. Clinicians should consider this relationship in CSU patients with significant D-dimer levels before considering treatment with anticoagulants.PMID:36305339 | DOI:10.23...

COVID-19 patients are characterized by dysregulated levels of membrane and soluble CD48
CONCLUSION: Considering the changes of mCD48 and sCD48, a role for CD48 in COVID-19 can be assumed and needs to be further investigated.PMID:36280100 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2022.10.009

From thymus to tissues and tumors: A  review of T-cell biology
T cells are critical orchestrators of the adaptive immune response that optimally eliminate a specific pathogen. Aberrant T-cell development and function are implicated in a broad range of human disease including immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases, and allergic diseases. Accordingly, therapies targeting T cells and their effector cytokines have markedly improved the care of patients with immune dysregulatory diseases. Newer discoveries concerning T-cell –mediated antitumor immunity and T-cell exhaustion have further prompted development of highly effective and novel treatment modalities for malignancies, including c...

A Study of Autoantibodies against Some Central Nervous System Antigens and the IL-35 Serum Level in Schizophrenia
This study aimed to investigate the role of autoantibodies against some central nervous system (CNS) antigens and IL-35 serum levels in patients with Schizophrenia. This case-control study involved 80 participants. The serum levels of IL-35 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the autoantibodies in the CNS by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). The serum levels of IL-35 were decreased in patient groups compared to healthy subjects. Autoantibodies against N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) and myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) were positive in 15% (6/40) and 7.5% (3/40), respectively; however, n...

Protocols of Standard of Care for Adult Patients with Primary Antibody Deficiencies Will Improve Timing of Diagnosis, Survival, and Quality of Life
This study aimed to propose protocols and guidelines for the adult PAD patients' standard care. Preparing the protocol, we considered the frequency and type of laboratory tests, imaging, endoscopic examinations, specialist consultations, and standardized recommendations for further care in the place of residence. As a result of the proposed monitoring scheme, patients can be provided with complete care in terms of their underlying conditions and comorbidities, as well as early detection of complications. This protocol will serve as a guide for physicians dealing with these patients and enable comparisons of patient groups ...
