Successful pregnancy after 10 consecutive failures in a liver transplant patient with advanced kidney failure
We report a successful, albeit complicated pregnancy with a live-born healthy baby at 28 weeks' gestation, after 10 pregnancy failures, in a 39-year-old patient with a history of liver transplantation and chronic kidney disease with hypertension and proteinuria. Multidisciplinary management (obstetrician, nephrologist and hepatology transplant specialist) allowed close monitoring, adaptation of immunosuppressive treatments and strict control of fetal growth. The onset of preeclampsia at 28 weeks' gestation led to a cesarean section, resulting in the birth of a healthy 830 g boy, with subsequent normal development. Followin...

Primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis: A rare presentation requiring a broad differential in nephrotic syndrome
Key Clinical MessageAnkylosing spondylitis (AS) presents with renal failure and proteinuria in a minority of cases, usually due to secondary amyloidosis or IgA nephropathy. While focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is less common, it should still be in the differential regardless of the patient's clinical profile. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Sympathetic Neurofunction Testing in Gestational Hypertension and Relationship with Developing Preeclampsia and Eclampsia: Real-world Evidences from Clinical Pharmacology Clinics
CONCLUSION: A high-rise in DBP post-IHG exercise is associated with gestational hypertensive mothers and this rise is strongly correlated with the development of preeclampsia and eclampsia, which suggests that addressing sympathetic hyperactivity could be a potential area to target therapeutics while managing gestational hypertension.PMID:38736117 | DOI:10.59556/japi.72.0484 (Source: Journal of the Association of Physicians of India)

The Promise of Cilnidipine in Hypertension with Comorbidities: National Consensus Statement: National Consensus Group Comprises Cardiologists, Nephrologists, and Diabetologists from India in a National Meet at New Delhi held on 22 < sup > nd < /sup > May 2022
J Assoc Physicians India. 2024 Jan;72(1):88-95. doi: 10.59556/japi.71.0400.ABSTRACTThe rapidly increasing burden of hypertension is responsible for premature deaths from cardiovascular disease (CVD), renal disease, and stroke, with a tremendous public health and financial burden. Hypertension detection, treatment, and control vary worldwide; it is still low, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). High blood pressure (BP) and CVD risk have a strong, linear, and independent association. They contribute to alarming numbers of all-cause and CVD deaths. A major culprit for increased hypertension is sympatheti...

Real-Time Use of SGLT2i Verified in Pre-dialysis: The RSVP Cross-sectional Study
CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE: An increasing number of patients with CKD are being prescribed SGLT2i. Nonetheless, significant disparities in sex, severity of disease, and comorbidities remain. We suggest that specific strategies be put in place to promote prescribing of SGLT2i in women and other at-risk populations, in particular among nephrology teams, to improve patient care.PMID:38736313 | DOI:10.1177/10600280241245995 (Source: The Annals of Pharmacotherapy)
