Case Report on Endometriosis Associated Peritoneal Endometrioid Carcinoma
We report a case of 43 years female with chief complaints of menorrhagia, dysmenorrhoea and dyspareunia. Her imaging revealed an endometriotic cyst of in left ovary al ong with iso to hyperechoic nodular area seen in right iliac fossa. Laparoscopic exploration validated it to be a case of grade IV endometriosis along with presence of peritoneal nodule of 5.5 × 4.5 cm in right iliac fossa. The peritoneal nodular lesion was removed with en bloc wide local exci sion with clinically disease-free margin. Histopathology report of peritoneal nodule shows endometrioid adenocarcinoma. Complete surgical staging for peritoneal...

Risk factors of chronic kidney disease in cisplatin-based hyperthermia intraperitoneal chemotherapy
CONCLUSION: Intraoperative use of parecoxib during cisplatin-based HIPEC emerged as a significant risk factor for postoperative CKD. Clinicians should exercise caution in prescribing parecoxib during HIPEC procedures. Additionally, maintaining intraoperative body temperature below 38.5°C might be crucial to mitigate the risk of CKD development. This study underscores the importance of identifying and preventing specific risk factors to improve long-term renal outcomes in patients undergoing cisplatin-based HIPEC.PMID:38342495 | DOI:10.1080/02656736.2024.2304250 (Source: International Journal of Hyperthermia)

Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy to Treat Pseudomyxoma Peritonei of Ovarian Origin: A Retrospective French RENAPE Group Study
CONCLUSION: These results suggested that a primary therapeutic strategy using complete CRS/HIPEC for patients with OPMP led to favorable long-term outcomes.PMID:38341381 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14850-0 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Trends in ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancer incidence, mortality, and survival: A 15-year population-based analysis
CONCLUSION: There has been a decrease in the incidence and incidence-based mortality of ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancer, primarily due to reductions in advanced stage epithelial cancers originating in the ovary, fallopian tube, or peritoneum.PMID:38330833 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.01.034 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Genes, Vol. 15, Pages 219: Genetic Basis of Breast and Ovarian Cancer: Approaches and Lessons Learnt from Three Decades of Inherited Predisposition Testing
Anita Luberto Patrizia Caggiati Davide Martorana Vera Uliana Antonio Percesepe Antonino Musolino Benedetta Pellegrino Germline variants occurring in BRCA1 and BRCA2 give rise to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome, predisposing to breast, ovarian, fallopian tube, and peritoneal cancers marked by elevated incidences of genomic aberrations that correspond to poor prognoses. These genes are in fact involved in genetic integrity, particularly in the process of homologous recombination (HR) DNA repair, a high-fidelity repair system for mending DNA double-strand breaks. In addition to its impli...

Role of Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in the Management of Colorectal Peritoneal Metastases
Clin Colon Rectal Surg. 2023 Mar 13;37(2):90-95. doi: 10.1055/s-0042-1758759. eCollection 2024 Mar.ABSTRACTPeritoneal metastases from colon cancer are a particularly challenging disease process given the limited response to systemic chemotherapy. In patients with isolated peritoneal metastases, cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy offers a potential treatment option to these patients with limited peritoneal metastases as long as a complete cytoreduction is achieved. Decision about a patient's candidacy for this treatment modality should be undertaken by a multidisciplinary group at expert ce...

Immune cell infiltrates in peritoneal metastases from colorectal cancer
ConclusionImmune cells were present in all PMs from CRC examined. Although infiltrating T cells express markers of exhaustion, they produce Th1-type cytokines when stimulated. These results indicate the possibility to augment tumor-specific immune responses within PMs using checkpoint blockade inhibitors. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)

Use of Ultrasound-Assisted, Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis in a Patient With High-Risk Pulmonary Embolism
This report describes a case in which ultrasound-assisted, catheter-directed thrombolysis was successfully used to treat high-risk PE in a female patient with extensive peritoneal metastases from gastric adenocarcinoma. Other examples from the literature, in which ultrasound-assisted, catheter-directed thrombolysis was used to treat high-risk PE, are also provided.PMID:38317350 | DOI:10.14503/THIJ-23-8235 (Source: Texas Heart Institute Journal)

Long-Term Survival of an Adolescent and Young Adult Patient with Unresectable Advanced Gastric Cancer in Whom Multidisciplinary Treatment Was Effective
We report the case of a long-term-surviving adolescent and young adult patient with unresectable advanced gastric cancer for whom multidisciplinary treatment was effective. A 29-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for further examination following a diagnosis of gastric cancer by a local physician. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy showed a deep ulcerated lesion in the lower third of the stomach, and analysis of biopsy specimens revealed an adenocarcinoma. Abdominal contrast- enhanced computed tomography showed gastric wall thickening in the lower third of the stomach. The patient underwent distal gastrectomy with lymph n...
