Rates of paclitaxel hypersensitivity reactions using a  modified Markman’s infusion protocol as primary prophylaxis
ConclusionThe modified Markman ’s desensitisation protocol as primary prophylaxis did not reduce the rate or severity of paclitaxel hypersensitivity reactions, although all patients could be successfully rechallenged. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Detection of Residual Peritoneal Metastases Following Cytoreductive Surgery Using Pegsitacianine, a pH-Sensitive Imaging Agent: Final Results from a Phase II Study
CONCLUSIONS: Pegsitacianine was well tolerated and facilitated the recognition of occult residual disease following CRS. The high rate of residual disease detected suggests that the use of pegsitacianine augmented surgeon assessment and performance during CRS.PMID:38622456 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-024-15165-4 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Head-to-head comparison of [18F]FDG PET and [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET in the diagnosis of gastric and pancreatic cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion[68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET exhibited a higher positivity rate compared to [18F]FDG PET in the detection of primary gastric cancer, lymph node and peritoneal metastases. For pancreatic cancer, both [18F]FDG PET and [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET demonstrated comparable, high positivity rates for primary cancer diagnosis and lymph node metastasis detection. There is still a requirement for more extensive and forward-looking research in this field. (Source: Clinical and Translational Imaging)

Has time to chemotherapy from primary debulking surgery in advanced ovarian cancer an impact on survival? - A population-based nationwide SweGCG study
CONCLUSIONS: For the entire cohort, stage IV, non-serous morphology and residual disease, but not TTC, influenced 5-year relative survival. However, longer TTC was associated with a poorer 2-year survival for those without residual disease after PDS.PMID:38603954 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2024.03.011 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

The safety and effectiveness of prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in patients with pathological T3-4 locally advanced colon cancer
CONCLUSION: Early prophylactic HIPEC based on 5-FU or lobaplatin subsequent to radical resection for patients with pT3-4 locally advanced CC is safe, but not effective in reducing the risk for mPC.PMID:38604861 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2024.03.143 (Source: Asian Journal of Surgery)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1467: Imaging of Peritoneal Metastases in Ovarian Cancer Using MDCT, MRI, and FDG PET/CT: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
yropoulou This review aims to compare the diagnostic performance of multidetector CT (MDCT), MRI, including diffusion-weighted imaging, and FDG PET/CT in the detection of peritoneal metastases (PMs) in ovarian cancer (OC). A comprehensive search was performed for articles published from 2000 to February 2023. The inclusion criteria were the following: diagnosis/suspicion of PMs in patients with ovarian/fallopian/primary peritoneal cancer; initial staging or suspicion of recurrence; MDCT, MRI and/or FDG PET/CT performed for the detection of PMs; population of at least 10 patients; surgical results, histopathologic analy...

Prophylaxis and treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis of gastric origin using hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of randomized trials
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the current knowledge, HIPEC in AGC appears to be a safe and effective tool for prophylaxis and a promising resource for the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis. Regarding the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis, the scarcity of large-cohort studies and the heterogeneity of the techniques adopted prevented us from achieving a definitive recommendation.PMID:38599315 | DOI:10.1016/j.gassur.2024.04.007 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1446: Ovarian Causes of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) & mdash;A Literature Review
Conclusions. In our study, we aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the ovarian causes of pseudomyxoma peritonei, including its epidemiology, imagery characteristics, symptoms, current treatment, and promising future therapies, in the hopes of finding feasible solutions, as a lack of understanding of this mucus-secreting malignant disease increases the risk of delayed diagnosis or uncontrolled deterioration. Prophylactic Cholecystectomy is Safe in Patients Undergoing Cytoreductive Surgery With Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy
CONCLUSION: Prophylactic cholecystectomy in patients undergoing CRS-HIPEC is not associated with increased morbidity or increased bile leak risk compared to historical data. While the benefits of prophylactic cholecystectomy are not yet elucidated, it may be considered to avoid potential future morbid operations for biliary disease.PMID:38587264 | DOI:10.1177/00031348241246171 (Source: The American Surgeon)
