Chitosan and chitooligosaccharide regulated reactive oxygen species homeostasis at wounds of pear fruit during healing
In this study, the wounded pear fruit (Pyrus bretschneideri cv. Dongguo) was treated with a 1 g L-1 CTS and COS. We found CTS and COS treatments increased NADPH oxidase and superoxide dismutase activities, and promoted O2.- and H2O2 production at wounds. CTS and COS also enhanced the activities of catalase, peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase, monodehydroascorbate reductase, dehydroascorbate reductase, and glutathione reductase, and elevated the levels of ascorbic acid and glutathione. In addition, the two chemicals improved antioxidant capacity in vitro and maintained cell membrane integrity at fruit wounds during healing. T...

Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 817: Transcriptome Analysis in Pyrus betulaefolia Roots in Response to Short-Term Boron Deficiency
iao Liu Boron (B) deficiency stress is frequently observed in pear orchards and causes a considerable loss of productivity and fruit quality. Pyrus betulaefolia is one of the most important rootstocks that has been widely used in pear production. The present study confirmed that the boron form of different tissues showed various changes, and the free boron content was significantly decreased under the short-term B deficiency condition. Moreover, the ABA and JA content also significantly accumulated in the root after short-term B deficiency treatment. A comprehensive transcriptome analysis of 24 h B deficiency treatment...

Comprehensive genomic analysis of the Rho GTPases regulators in seven Rosaceae species revealed that PbrGDI1 controls pollen tube growth in Pyrus via mediating cellulose deposition
This study compared how the Rho GTPase regulators functioned in seven Rosaceae species. Seven Rosaceae species, divided into three subgroups, had a total of 177 regulators of Rho GTPases. According to duplication analysis, the expansion of GEF, GAP, and GDI families was facilitated by whole genome duplication or a dispersed duplication event. The balance of cellulose deposition to control the growth of the pear pollen tube, as demonstrated by the expression profile and antisense oligonucleotide approach. Moreover, protein-protein interactions indicated that PbrGDI1 and PbrROP1 could directly interact, suggesting that PbrGD...

During these studies, we isolated two Moniliella strains: CCY 11-1-1T from the blossoms of a peach tree (Prunus persica) and CCY 11-1-2 from the soil adjacent to a pear tree (Pyrus communis), both found in the Malé Zálužie locality. The sequences of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region were i...

Genome-wide identification and molecular characterization of the AP2/ERF superfamily members in sand pear (Pyrus pyrifolia)
‘Whangkeumbae’ (Pyrus pyrifolia) is a typical climacteric fruit variety of sand pear with excellent taste. However, the rapid postharvest ethylene production limits the shelf life of ‘Whangkeumbae’ fruit. AP2/ERF... (Source: BMC Genomics)

GSE190654 Transcriptional expression of different grafting combinations during healing
Contributor : Liding LISeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Pyrus hybrid rootstockGrafting was widely used in pear cultivation as an ancient cultivation technique, the use of rootstocks could improve the resistance of pear trees, make pear trees early fruit. The healing process of plant grafting involves complex signal transduction and material accumulation. We used two different grafting combinations, include ‘Qingzhen D1’ on ‘QAUP-1’ and ‘Qingzhen D1’ on ‘Qingzhen D1’.The samples which are the part of graft union of those two combinations were collected om 1 day, 5 da...

Transcriptome changes associated with boron applications in fruits of watercore-susceptible pear cultivar
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggested that BA probably alleviates 'Akibae' watercore occurrence and improves fruit quality by regulating the decrease in sorbitol and sucrose, the increase in fatty acids and the balance of plant hormones. Our results provide further information for understanding the molecular mechanism of the effect of BA on pear fruit.PMID:36309610 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-022-07934-9 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

SNP-based high-density linkage map construction and QTL mapping of black spot disease resistance in Chinese sand pear
This study aimed to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with PBS resistance trait in pear and determine closely linked molecular markers by specific locus amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq). F1 population resulting from a cross between "Deshengxiang" (female) and "Guiguan," a susceptible (male) variety, was developed and evaluated in 2016 and 2017. SLAF technology was used to discover SNPs in the F1 individuals and subsequently a high-density genetic linkage map for PBS resistance was constructed which contained 17,604 SNP markers. Based on the linkage map, the markers were distributed into 17 linkage gro...
