Sensors, Vol. 21, Pages 4803: Real Time Pear Fruit Detection and Counting Using YOLOv4 Models and Deep SORT
This study aimed to produce a robust real-time pear fruit counter for mobile applications using only RGB data, the variants of the state-of-the-art object detection model YOLOv4, and the multiple object-tracking algorithm Deep SORT. This study also provided a systematic and pragmatic methodology for choosing the most suitable model for a desired application in agricultural sciences. In terms of accuracy, YOLOv4-CSP was observed as the optimal model, with an AP@0.50 of 98%. In terms of speed and computational cost, YOLOv4-tiny was found to be the ideal model, with a speed of more than 50 FPS and FLOPS of 6.8–14.5. If cons...

Downstream of GA4, PbCYP78A6 participates in regulating cell cycle-related genes and parthenogenesis in pear (Pyrus bretshneideri Rehd.)
Parthenocarpy results in traits attractive to both consumers and breeders, and it overcomes the obstacle of self-incompatibility in the fruit set of horticultural crops, including pear (Pyrus bretshneider). Howev... (Source: BMC Plant Biology)

Genome-wide identification and functional analysis of U-box E3 ubiquitin ligases gene family related to drought stress response in Chinese white pear (Pyrus bretschneideri)
The plant U-box (PUB) proteins are a family of ubiquitin ligases (E3) enzymes that involved in diverse biological processes, as well as in responses to plant stress response. However, the characteristics and f... (Source: BMC Plant Biology)

Orchard Management and Landscape Context Mediate the Floral Microbiome of Pear
Appl Environ Microbiol. 2021 May 21:AEM.00048-21. doi: 10.1128/AEM.00048-21. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCrop-associated microbiota are key factors affecting host health and productivity. Most crops are grown within heterogeneous landscapes, and interactions between management practices and landscape context often affect plant and animal biodiversity in agroecosystems. However, whether these same factors typically affect crop-associated microbiota is less clear. Here, we assessed whether orchard management strategies and landscape context affected bacterial and fungal communities in pear (Pyrus communis) flowers. We foun...
