Nbeo part 1 help
Hi! I’m retaking my part 1 in august and this is one of the few attempts I have left, so I’m very desperate for any and all test taking advice, strategies, and tips you may have , especially if you took and passed the exam in the last 2-3 years. I personally struggle with anatomy/physiology and optics, and somewhat of the immune/path/micro discipline on the score report . I have kmk signature and optoprep. thank you in advance. DeSantis vetoes a bill intended to remove patient confusion over medical titles The measure was sparked by efforts to draw distinctions between optometrists and ophthalmologists. Also vetoed was a bill dealing with fees collected under a counselors compact. Some other health-related bills were signed. health.wusf.usf.edu (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hopkins vs. UCSF urgent
Hi everyone! I was lucky to have recently been accepted off of the waitlist for UCSF. I have a few more days to decide which school to choose and I keep going back and forth between the two schools. For context, I am interested in ophthalmology, health equity and social justice. I am also considering an MPH. I’m still trying to negotiate financial aid with UCSF so COA difference is TBD although I imagine it would end up being pretty similar. Ideally I’d like to end up on the west coast for... Last Minute Optics
Dusn said: I used last minute optics I would have thought that it would be hard to fail the boards by not doing well in optics... I thought you fail by missing something that could kill or blind the patient... it’s hard to kill someone by prescribing them the wrong glasses. Click to expand... Last Minute Optics, by David Hunter and Constance West. It's recommended by many people. It got me through OKAP, ABO WQE, and the ABO oral exam. New is something like $169. My sister was recently dismissed from Optometry School and was wondering what she could do?
Hey guys, my sister was 2nd year optometry student and just found out she has been dismissed from the Illinois college of Optometry. For the past three quarters, she mainly made Cs and C-s and did not meet the academic requirements (they gave her multiple chances and she saw an improvement near the end, but it wasn't enough). She is pretty devastated and doesn't know what to do from here. She attempted an appeal, but didnt get anywhere with it. She thought about reapplying, but the school... new American Board of Ophthalmology policy to ban ophthalmologists from being board certified if they didn't do it by year 7 after residency
The American Board of Ophthalmology has a new policy that one is "board eligible" for 7 years. After that 7 years, you can NEVER become board certified. This is a change from the recent past where the term "board eligible" was a common term used but having no official definition. It must have been the ABMS not liking it so the ABO did finally sanction the term "board eligible" for 7 years after residency. After that, one is no longer has the status "board eligible" but could become... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Externship Advice
I'm looking for some general or even specific advice regarding 4th year externships. Any things I should consider that may not be that apparent when making these choices? I'm thinking of doing two rotations in FL as I think the job market pays fairly decent in that state and I love the beach. Also, one of these rotations offers a place to live. I was considering having my last rotation be nearby where my long-distance partner lives, but I'm not so sure this is a good idea (unsure if we'll... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My OAT Breakdown and Advice
Hello guys. I just took the OAT on May 25th and I scored really well! I was going to take the OAT in April but I thought I wasn’t prepared enough and I didn’t get much time to study because I was finishing up my last semester of undergrad. Below is a complete breakdown of everything that I used and my test scores. Study materials I used OATBooster 10/10 This was the primary resource I used. The questions on the practice tests were very representative of what I saw on the actual OAT and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
