Real estate professional status against earned income (W2, 1099, etc.)?
Hello all, I was hoping to get input from physicians, dentists, optometrists, podiatrists, etc who are also real estate professionals in order to offset earned income (W2, 1099, etc.) Looks like a very effective but tricky way to go about it. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

No home program at my (new) school - seeking some guidance
Hello everyone, I am a M2 at a new US MD school in the NE who is interested in ophtho. Being that it's so new and there is no home program, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me PM them and ask some questions Specifically seeking some feedback on whether to take a research year or not, and how to make connections/find a mentor in ophtho. Would be very much appreciated, and thank you for your time! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Podiatry vs Optometry
I have currently looking into both podiatry and optometry and was wondering which career has the better outlook and return. Podiatry takes 4 years and then 3 years residency with job posting shows anywhere from 90k to 180k in salaries while optometry is 4 years and has an optional residency with job posting anywhere from 150-200k. It looks like both cost around 200k in tuition. I know with podiatry you can do surgery and optometry recently is having scope expansions across the states... Credit Card Points from the Practice
Can someone explain how this works? In retina in particular, are all injections and other purchases made with a credit card? Do you generate massive amounts of points every year, and if so, how does your practice handle them? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NBEO Part 1 - study advice
Hi there, I just wanted to crowdsource and get some opinions on how people who have taken/passed NBEO part 1 studied and what kind of materials or books they found most helpful. KMK and optoprep are the big 2 but it seems like my school keeps steering us away from solely replying on KMK -- especially for students who need to re-learn their base knowledge, which I feel like is me because I wasn't as serious first year as I am now. Also how are optoprep questions/using those as your main... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need Advice
Not sure how to go about this and was hoping for any advice on the matter. I am currently in the middle of applying for optometry schools and am conflicted on what to do. My freshman year of college I was at another institution and I was stupid and cheated on a test and was caught. I ended up transferring to another school and have not had any issues since I finished my sanctions. My problem is I am not sure how to address it on my applications or even if I should address it. My grade for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ITO Pathway to ABO Board Certification
I am part of a large group practice that is looking to hire additional ophthalmologists. We have come across several applicants who completed their ophthalmology residency abroad, passed the USMLE exams and have since been practicing in the US, typically as fellows in academic programs. My understanding of the ITO pathway is that they must practice with an unrestricted license for 5 years in the US before being considered ABO board eligible. Prior to this period of board eligibility... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are the OAT physics questions just as hard as Chad ’s physics questions?
If you’ve taken Chad’s quizzes for physics then you probably know what I’m talking about.. The first few questions from his quizzes are simple and easy, then the last few of his questions get so difficult and complex. Will they be like that on the OAT or is he just over preparing us?
