Ophthalmology Pre-Residency Research Fellowships
Hi all,
I'm a final year IMG (Australia 4 year MD degree) with US citizenship (originally from Minnesota - thought I would stay in Aus forever, that plan has since changed). I graduate in December 2024, and will be in the United States from March-September for ophthal away elective and U.S based rotations (Oschner New Orleans). Wayne State vs CMU
Hello, I'm currently waitlisted at both schools, but they both have decent WL movement and I'd like some insight for the best case scenario where I'm accepted to both. Can you match ophthalmology with mediocre clerkship grades?

Medical College of Wisconsin vs. Wake Forest
Hello everyone,
I am deciding between these two schools and need some help. I currently live in Milwaukee where MCW is located and I am interested in pursuing ophthalmology.
MCW pros:
- Extremely well regarded in Milwaukee and Wisconsin
- Froedtert Hospital/health system is massive with just about every sub-specialty. MCW is within the hospital campus which would make shadowing easy
- Has its own eye institute with extensive amounts of research available.

Projector + mirror vs digital screen in short rooms
We are moving office spaces from our 20 foot lanes to shorter rooms.

1 month from Match and regretting my specialty. What do I do...?
M4 here, applied Ortho and did 4 away rotations and probably will match if I rank. However I got burnt out after 1-2 aways and hated pretty much everything after that. I regret applying Ortho.
What do I do? If I start Ortho residency and 2 months in already want to switch, will my PD even support this switch so early?
I applied and interviewed at 5 TYs, do I rank them higher?

M4 - Switching after applying to another specialty
US MD 4th year here, I applied Ortho this cycle but I honestly think Ophtho is the field for me. I regret pursuing ortho instead of ophtho. I have lots of experience in the field, as I was a scribe for an ophthalmologist for a year during my gap year. 2024 OAT Breakdown (Score: 380 AA, 400 TS)
I took the OAT on January 4 to apply for the 2023-2024 cycle. I really dedicated my time and energy to studying consistently in order to score well so that I can hopefully get in to a school despite me applying a bit late in the application cycle. I sent my applications to schools in mid December without having my OAT scores, and I have already gotten an interview invite to UAB prior to writing the OAT. My overall GPA is 3.66.

Some neuro-ophthalmologists did their training as a neurologist then did a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship. This is not too unusual.
