What are my chances?
Just wondering what my chances are to get into an MD or DO program?
I had a 3.3 Overall gpa from my first school (community college) with an associates in business administration.
I am currently at Stony Brook University with a 3.88 GPA, expected to be higher after this semester.
My science GPA is a 4.0 (one year biology with labs, one year general chemistry, & microbiology thus far). I am currently taking organic chemistry and physics.
There is a significant upward trend in my GPA, i...

Low undergraduate GPA, currently in a Master's program. Should I also do a post-bacc program?
So during my undergraduate career my family had a lot of financial hardships and I had to work. This unfortunate circumstance took an emotional toll on me and it made an impact on my grades. I ended up graduating with an overall 2.86 gpa and around a 2.6 science gpa. I majored in biology and psychology. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. I am hoping to graduate with a 3.7 gpa. I also plan on retaking my DATs. My question is should I do a...

Need advice on what to do this year (graduated and applied to MD schools, waiting for interviews)
Hi everyone,
I submitted most of my secondaries and am currently trying to decide what to do this upcoming year. I would like to get a job and take classes to boost my GPA (3.52 cumulative, 3.40 science). But, I am not sure about the balance of my activities as I do not know how intense the application cycle gets when interviews start coming in. Here are my options:
1)
Volunteer once a week at a hospital.
Attend a microbiology lab and Spanish class (part-time student).
Get an easy...

USMLE Step 1, 2CK
Hello everyone,
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA (majoring in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics, minoring in Neuroscience). Also passed licensing exams in the UK (PLAB 1 and PLAB 2) for surgical...

Is the lab for microbiology required for Louisville?
I'm taking microbiology this semester and want to make sure I don't need the lab. I did check the schools' website, but Louisville is confusing me. I will have more than 16 credit hours of biology with 12 of them being w/ a lab. Do I still need the lab for microbiology? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I add more schools to my list?
I'm a NJ and Quebec resident applying to mostly american schools.
I have a 3.57 at a top-10 undergrad majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. (My school is notorious for grade deflation if that means anything)
MCAT 517
I have ~700 hours of research in several labs, one first author review, one third author from a high-profile vaccine development lab.
1200+ hours of volunteer coaching, definitely a strength of my application (the team is super diverse and unique).
200+ hours shadowing...

Is this course schedule sustainable ?
I'm planning on taking 17 credits this semester, all upper level sciences. It includes immunology, genetics (and lab), evolution, microbiology, and biology of drugs. I was wondering if its possible to maintain the grades in these classes. I'm a little hesitant, but figure that the rigorous academics in dental school must be the same or even harder. For reference, I'm entering my senior year and currently hold a 3.5 oGPA, a slightly higher sGPA. Any advice for me? If anyone in dental school...

4 science labs in one semester?
I am an incoming sophomore in undergrad and I am currently doing research in a microbiology lab this summer and plan to continue.
I am planning on taking Orgo 1, Anatomy and phys 1, Physics 1, and microbiology next semester.
I am worried that taking 4 lab science classes will be overwhelming. Last year I passed general chem and biology with As without taking up much time at all. The one physics professor at my undergrad is also very difficult, with a large amount of students failing each...
