Nurse would like advice about medical school: my history, my GPA, my failed classes, prereqs, and labs during COVID?
I am a new gradate nurse working in a NICU. I've been working since June 2020. My nursing undergraduate GPA is 3.64 and science GPA of 3.85 (in nursing school I took Organic Bio Chem, Anatomy & Physiology I+II, Microbiology, Nutrition, Pathophysiology I+II). I received an a A in all science classes except Organic Bio Chem (Grade = B). No C's on my nursing transcript...just A's and B's. I was active member in school: -I was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta (Freshman Year), My College's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Did I Mess Up (and what to do next)?
Hi! I'm a junior microbiology major/soc minor hoping to take the mcat jan 16. I studied lightly over the summer, mostly khan academy videos, psych soc document, and some CARS passages on jack westin. Then in august I started content review, 2 chapters a day from Kaplan (different subjects) everyday, a few CARS passages, and some flashcards for psych soc. I finished content and planned to start questions...but mid-oct school started to go horribly and virtual school sapped my energy and i... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's the difference between medical microbiology and infectious disease the medical specialty?
Doesn't it amount to the same thing?? Doesn't an infectious disease MD know everything a medical microbiologist (PhD or something) know?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Orgo I, Microbiology, and Anatomy in 1 semester?
For the fall of 2020, I am scheduled to take organic I, gen. microbiology, and human anatomy, each with its own laboratory. Am I possibly making a mistake? This past semester I took cell biology, gen chem 2, and nutrition, and had no issues with As in each. Should I just shoulder the load, or replace one of these classes with physics 2? Thank you in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How safe is PAPR
I work in a non academic institution in a remote state. We get our own PAPR hoods, but share the machine and the hose connected to it. The machine and hose, are always lying outside on tables not properly put back. The hose is sometimes touching the floor. How safe, is it? From my experience working in microbiology in Undergrad even the slightest contamination would destroy cell lines in vitro. Is there a proper way to clean the PAPR to make sure the risks of covid exposures are zero... How safe is PAPR (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on Double Majoring as a Pre-Med?
Hello everyone. This is my first post and was wondering what your thoughts were on double majoring or adding minors in college. I am a current senior in high school and want to pursue either some kind of joint MD degree (MD/MBA, MD/MPH, MD/PhD) in the future. I already plan on majoring in Microbiology, but I was also thinking of adding a double major in Anthropology and then minors in Business, Chemistry, and Spanish. I wanted to do these simply because I have a strong interest in all of... Thoughts on Double Majoring as a Pre-Med? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any advice on retaking undergrad courses?
Hi all, I'm a nontrad. I graduated in 2016, but some of my pre-reqs were taken as far as 10 years back. From some Dental schools: I was told it's important to retake prepreq classes. From other Dental schools: I've been told as long as I'm taking higher-level courses, I don't have to retake! So my BIG questions are: does a D in microbiology + an A retaken in microbiology: 1.0 + 4.0= 2.5 in micro? and/or a C in Chem2 + an A retaken in Chem2: 2.0 + 4.0= 3.0 in Chem2? or is it more... Which Subject was the Hardest for You to Learn in Veterinary Medicine School?
I realize the answer to this question will probably depend on your school, and on your individual strengths-and-interests ... but I'm still curious. Some students have stellar memories and can memorize everything, from start to finish (e.g., anatomy, microbiology). Other students are much better with concepts, analysis, application, etc. Anyway, you get the idea. Which subject was the most challenging for you to comprehend (study and learn) in veterinary medicine school? Why? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
