Should I retake Cell-bio. Plan for Fall semester for DIY postbac
Hello guys, I know there are so many thread about this topic. But please hear me out and give me advice. I'm doing DIY postbac right now. IT's been good so far. I got 1 A in Neuroscience and will get another A in psychology. Now, I'm trying to decide what classes I need to take in fall. The options are: 1. retake Cell biology (I got C for the first time). 2. retake OChem (I retook them twice and got B- for the highest back in 2013) 3. retake microbiology (I got C for the first time). 4.... Microbiology Lab Retake?
Hey all, So a bit of background: I'm a nursing major and am stoked on nursing, but want to keep the door open for med school in case I want to further my education in the future, as I'm not really sold on the whole DNP/APRN thing and haven't had a ton of good experiences with them. The micro class required for my program (University of Utah) did not have a lab, but another microbiology class allowed people from my class to take their lab if they so desired. Because of this, there were... Microbiology Lab Retake? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need Success Stories: Is it possible?
Hey everyone! First off, I want to say that I am thankful for a community like this one and I appreciate this website greatly! I have a few questions: I am currently a Cal State undergrad studying Microbiology and minoring in biochemistry (also pre-med, if not obvious.) I have a couple hundred hours of volunteering / shadowing, work as an SI tutor, and was in a cadaver Dissection program for a year. I've also been on Dean's list for a few years. Nevertheless, unfortunately, I have had a... Need Success Stories: Is it possible? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How strict are schools about prerequisites?
I have all the prerequisites for my schools but a few of them say they want microbiology which I haven't taken. I just graduated so would they not consider me until I take it or is it no big deal to miss a class? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

High score study plan advice needed!! :)
Hi everybody. I'm going to start the preparation for step1 in a month. My intention is to take the exam on December 2016. I am quite strong in most of the subjects. The areas I feel weaker are: behavioral sciences, microbiology and anatomy. So, at this moment I have just the the Kaplan LN 2014 (the ones with the red colored cover). I'm considering to buy Uworld Qbank, Pathoma, KN videos and the Uworld's biostatistics review. Having plenty of time, my idea was to cover the weakest areas... High score study plan advice needed!! Degree Questions
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum so forgive me if I am posting in the incorrect section. A little about myself; I am currently an incoming transfer student (Sophomore) at Michigan State University majoring in Microbiology. I plan to complete my bachelors degree at MSU and return to my home state of California to complete graduate school and later pursue a career as a pharmaceutical scientist. Ive asked many school counselors and professors for advise on how to achieve my goals and... Degree Questions (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mediocre DAT...Low organic score..advice?
I took the DAT recently and I was disappointed. Long story short, I lost track of time in organic. OGPA: 3.67 SGPA: 3.55 BCP: 3.50 In college I took 16-19 hours every semester, had research experience, took a rigorous curriculum with lots of upper level courses at once (histology, immunology, neurobiology, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, etc.). I taught biology for 3 years as a supplemental instructor, have lots of community service hours, and club involvement on... Mediocre DAT...Low organic score..advice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I not finish my bachelor's and go to Pharmacy school?
I am a current UCI 2nd year undergrad with senior standing as a Pharmaceutical Sciences major looking to go into Pharmacy. This has always been my dream job and I honestly can't wait to learn everything there is to know about drugs. I have a 3.99 GPA so far and I only need Anatomy, physiology, microbiology, a speech class, and 1 more quarter of ochem lab to finish the prerequisites for Western University. I am also a pharmacy technician for around 5 months, a hospital pharmacy volunteer, and... Should I not finish my bachelor's and go to Pharmacy school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Science online classes vs. CC (not pre-reqs)
Hi everyone, I'm trying to raise my sGPA (3.0) by taking microbiology, anatomy, and physiology. My application is in solid shape to apply DO otherwise: cGPA 3.6, 505 MCAT, good ECs, but I'm worried about the discrepancy in sGPA vs cGPA. I have read about several online options on various postings here, but it seems like no one likes UNE or Berkley extension. I also have the option of CC night classes but wasn't sure which would look better. Other undergrad classes in my area really aren't... Class advice please?
Hello! I am a general science major that had just graduated a few days ago. I just got my final grades back and noticed that I failed Microbiology with a D. Would Optometry schools accept if I retake the course at a community college since I am not able to retake it at my university? Small additional question: I have not taken the OATs or participated in any shadowing yet, how much shadowing should I do and what is a good score for a student with a GPA of 3.2? Thank you so much for any help! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Late-comer to Optometry. 26 and considering applying, need advice.
Hi all, I am 26 years old and I received my BS in Biology in 2013. I am currently a Certified Orthoptist in Chicago and I work with two optometrists almost daily, often seeing their patients in my own clinic. Additionally I am about half way done with my Masters in Clinical Vision Research from NOVA (remotely). I want to apply to optometry school but I need to go back and take organic chemistry, microbiology, and 2nd semester physics (I never took any of these). It's been a long time since... Non-science letter of recommendation
Hi everyone, I'm planning to apply this cycle to MD/DO and I don't have a non-science letter of recommendation. Can a letter of recommendation from research mentor (microbiology lab at my school) be counted as a non-science letter of recommendation? Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)
