Dealing with Outside Problems?
Hey everyone! I’m currently a junior working towards getting into veterinary school, but this semester has really been a nightmare for me. I’ll start off by saying that I am determined to get into veterinary school, so I would like all of the “you need to try harder” or “do you really want it” comments to be kept to a minimum. I’m currently finishing up an 18 hour semester in which I took A&P II, Principles of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Forage Production And Utilization, and Principles of... Dealing with Outside Problems? Most dense class you've taken in undergrad?
I'm curious: What's the most dense class you've taken in undergrad and how did you end up doing? I'm talking lecture heavy, textbook heavy, material overload. I'm currently struggling through microbiology and am just overwhelmed at the amount of material we are covering in this course. So far we have covered 23 chapters and counting. The professor also expects us to know super detailed information and the class average for our last exam was a 48. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UVA or UW
My daughter is very focused on being a research pathologist. That said, she is trying to decide on the best undergrad program. She has been accepted to University of Virginia (where we live) and University of Washington. UVA is about $30K a year for us, and has a biology program, not microbiology UW is about $55K a year for us, and has a microbiology program. My daughter wants to eventually get MD/PhD. Any advice? Should be pay the extra $100K for UW? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lowly Pre-med Question
Hello Pathology experts, I have a few quick questions the pathology career in general. I am going into medical school and have a great interest in pathology. I know I am ahead of myself but I just want to get a feel for the field. 1) If I aspire to subspecialize in either neuropathology or medical microbiology, would I have ANY trouble finding a job after this kind of resume? Are the job concerns mainly for those who don't subspecialize? 2) is the AP/CP residency 4 years or 5 now? 3)... Lowly Pre-med Question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Prerequisites not finished at application - missing two
I am applying to dental schools in June. For many schools I have most of the prereqs completed, but not all. I am missing Physics II and Microbiology. While I see on many websites that prereqs need to be completed by matriculation, will not having them complete at application cause my application to be viewed negatively? I am planning to take Physics II and Microbiology during my senior year (2018-2019). Should I instead try to take them this summer while applying, so that my grades... In light of the terrible MCAT jump on the MSAR, and my not so excellent MCAT, I would like to call upon SDN to judge me.. Online BS Microbiology from UF
I'm seriously considering changing my major as well as my school for various reasons to University of Florida's online BS Microbiology. As a non-traditional pre-med student there are various reasons why I want to switch schools and go to an online program but mainly so that I can attend virtual lecture and do my work on my own schedule because I'm finishing up my paramedic program and need time for not only clinicals but other things. This is not to say I don't have time... Online BS Microbiology from UF (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Clinical hours for CLS rotation
So, right now I am majoring in clinical laboratory sciences. The program requires clinical rotations in a laboratory setting. Would this experience count as some type of clinical experience for medical school? I keep hearing conflicting answers from pre-med counselors, and the internet. During this clinical rotation, we learn how to analyze patient samples in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology. We even have a phlebotomy rotation. Can anyone that majored in or is...
