Waitlisted ... need advice with how to move forward
I was wait listed at UNE and UB. I don't like waiting in limbo like this and have decided to start thinking about applying again the next cycle. My problem is that UNE requires microbiology and lab and my university only offers this in the winter but I also took my DAT in 2017 and my scores will be expiring and I also want to raise my DAT score (TA/TS 19. My 2 plans are: I can either pay around $1400 to take microbio + lab over the winter and hope that i get off the wait list. If I don't... Upper Division Bio Classes During the Summer?
I know it's highly recommended you don't take prereqs during the summer as the material is condensed, but how does that sentiment carry over to upper div. bio classes? I'd like to take Microbiology, Endocrinology, and Hematology, but the competitiveness of those classes coupled with the fact that I'd be utilizing open campus (non-degree seeking) means that the only realistic time I can take these classes is over 2 summers. I guess my only option is to take it over the summer so I shouldn't... Upper Division Bio Classes During the Summer? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I've become aware that many US students/doctors don't know of the different type of pathologists besides clinical/anat pathologists and forensic path
The following thread made me realise this Metabolic medicine? I read that chemical pathologists and IM can specialize in metabolic medicine. Foreign Degree US citizen, non-trad wanting some information about prerequisites
Hi everyone, I’m a 32-year-old stay-at-home mom who has always wanted to go to medical school. I attempted taking the MCAT 4 years ago but I had to put my plans on hold because of health reasons and a premature baby. Today we are healthy and happy...for the most of it because I just can’t seem to get over not going to medical school. I have a master’s degree in Microbiology from a foreign university (I am a US citizen though). It has been evaluated by WES and I have a GPA of 3.8. After... Better to take molecular biology or biology of cancer?
I have one semester left before I hopefully start medical school, and I need a 400 level biology class and lab. Would anyone either in medical school or graduated help me decide which will be most helpful in med school so I am not bombarded with 12 different topics at once? (1) Molecular biology and molecular biology lab (gel electrophoresis, and other stuff I've already done) or (1) Biology of Cancer and Microbiology lab are my two main options. If it helps, the prereq for molecular... Better to take molecular biology or biology of cancer? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it possible to do a Master's or Post-Bacc online, and if so, would dental schools accept it?
My undergrad GPA was pretty bad (2.97 overall) and so I'm thinking a post-bacc or Master's will be necessary. Unfortunately, there are no programs close by and I'm not sure if I'll be able to relocate anytime soon. I found this program: Clinical Microbiology | The George Washington University from GWU that appears to be an online Microbiology Masters, and I've found some other possible programs. My DAT score... The MCAT: Where TF do I start?
Hi guys, I've been dealing with a lot lately, trying to get myself calmed down before college starts back up in a week (Senior I). I may take a few days just to compose myself before sprinting into worrying about yet another standardized test (which have been an nemesis of mine in the past). I'm having severe pre-mcat anxiety. I don't even know where to begin. My general chemistry courses and microbiology course will be this semester, which ends in December. My genetics and... The MCAT: Where TF do I start? Formal Post Bac vs. DIY Post Bac and Working full-time in Research for MD/PhD
Hi, I will be graduating undergrad with a B.Eng in Mechanical engineering in the Spring of 2020. I decided to pursue an MD/PhD degree during my third year of school and after taking part in microbiology research at my institution for a year (my first experience in the biology field ever). Because of scheduling constraints and M.E. degree requirements I am missing almost all of my pre-reqs except for math, physics I, and gen. chem lab. It was not possible for me to switch to a biomed/biology... Formal Post Bac vs. DIY Post Bac and Working full-time in Research for MD/PhD (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What DO Schools are more friendly to late applicants?
I know it's very late in the cycle, but my first MCAT was a 498 and I'm retaking it in August to raise it. My practice scores now are at about 503, and I'm shooting for a 505. I understand these schools having rolling admissions, but I wanted to see which schools would be more friendly to a September applicant. I have a cgpa of 3.52 and a sgpa of 3.4. I'm a microbiology major with a stats and chem minor. I have 2 leadership positions in ECs, have done neuro research for the past 2 years... What DO Schools are more friendly to late applicants? Which Medical Schools to Apply To (Oh, by Golly)
Hmm, first off I dislike my username. That’s actually a different username I use. I wanted ‘Determined Aneurysm’ but SND is being quite picky with my IP address and rejected my request multiple times to use the name I want and delete the Red one. So I graduated with a BS in Biochemistry. I also graduated with MS in Medical Microbiology. I am a white male with strong European diversity from deceased grandparents. Should I keep trying? :/
Hello future doctors! I’ve been secretly viewing posts on SDN since middle school and this is my first post lol. I’m an upcoming senior pre-med at a top 13 public university. So far I have taken Gen chem one and two, bio one and two, anatomy and physiology one, microbiology, precalculus, Calc one, statistics, and I’m currently taking OCHEM one in the summer. I still have to take physics, biochemistry and the second half of OCHEM. The reason for my post is because I’m trying to determine... Should I keep trying? :/ (Source: Student Doctor Network)
