Enhanced Uranium Extraction via Charge Dynamics and Interfacial Polarization in MoS2/GO Heterojunction Electrodes
This study introduces a novel molybdenum disulfide/graphene oxide heterojunction (MoS2/GO-H) electrode for effective uranium ion (UO22+) removal from water through capacitive deionization (CDI). Employing an innovative electroadsorption-electrocatalysis system (EES) strategy that leverages interface polarization at the MoS2 and GO interface, it significantly enhances removal efficiency, achieving over 90% uranium removal in the presence of competing ions. AbstractThe removal of uranyl ions (UO22+) from water is challenging due to their chemical stability, low concentrations, complex water matrix, and technical limitations ...

A High Efficiency, Low Resistance Antibacterial Filter Formed by Dopamine ‐Mediated In Situ Deposition of Silver onto Glass Fibers
Glass fiber filter is coated via the dopamine-mediated electroless metallization method, yielding higher filtration efficiency (97%) and lower pressure drop (150 Pa) than the silver-coated filters produced by dipping method (171 Pa). Survival rates of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis bacteria decreased to 0 –15.7%, respectively after 2 h, with no bacteria surviving after 6 h. AbstractThe coating of filter media with silver is typically achieved by chemical deposition and aerosol processes. Whilst useful, such approaches struggle to provide uniform coating and are prone to blockage. To address these issues, an in s...

Letter to the editor regarding “Associations between paraspinal muscle characteristics and spinal curvature in conservatively treated adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: a systematic review” by Chan et al.
We read with high interest the study by Chan and colleagues about the muscle characteristics in scoliosis and their relationships with the curve features. The authors conducted a systematic review and found that the paraspinal muscles on the concavity presented different important alterations [1]. The results of this work are very important, especially for supporting the studies about rehabilitation in scoliosis. The application of quantitative measures, like the ones mentioned in the review, deserves a lot of attention because they allow precise calculations able to sustain valid reasonings. Comparing symptom clusters in cancer survivors by cancer diagnosis: A latent class profile analysis
ConclusionIdentifying symptom subgroups by cancer diagnosis has the potential to develop innovative and effective targeted interventions in cancer survivors. Further research is needed to establish extensive knowledge in symptom clustering between treatment regimens, and short-term and long-term cancer survivors. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Empirical Development of a Behavioral Intervention for African American/Black and Latino Persons with Unsuppressed HIV Viral Load Levels: An Application of the Multiphase Optimization Strategy (MOST) Using Cost-Effectiveness as an Optimization Objective
We examined four scenarios: one-time intervention with and without discounting and continuous interventions with and without discounting. In all four scenarios, interventions that comprise or include SB and NL (and including health education) were cost effective (< $100,000/quality-adjusted life year). Further, with consideration of HRQoL impact, maximal intervention became cost-effective enough to be scalable. Thus, a fractional factorial experiment coupled with cost-effectiveness analysis is a promising approach to optimize multi-component interventions for scalability. The present study can guide service planning eff...

Missing link: a qualitative analysis of community-based organisations contributions to partnered collaborative care to treat late-life depression
Conclusions CBOs, when partnered with clinics, enhanced both medical and social aspects of depression treatment for older adults. CBOs are well positioned to assist primary care clinics in treating the complex health needs of older adults by providing new and strengthening existing aspects of partnered depression care while building patient trust among culturally diverse populations.
