Psychology Hierarchy
I recently just gone done catching up with a friend of mine who's also in a Psychology program and they told me how their cohort had a discussion regarding the perception of the field from within and outside. They mentioned an interesting point in how they believed that there was a "hierarchy" in Psychology. For example, in their discussion it was touched on that clinical psychologists may be perceived as higher on the totem pole than counseling psychologists, that vocational... Inpatient billing codes and reimbursement
As I mentioned in another thread, I feel like the outpatient side gets a lot of talk. However inpatient reimbursement feel like more of an unknown to me. Was hoping those in the know could share what their reimbursement is looking like on the inpatient side in they're specific locale. Hopefully this will give those of us who are considering doing our own billings what to expect. Alternatively, for those taking employed jobs, this may help expose poor salary offers. Either way I think the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Quitting my PCT job
Hi all. I'm just feeling pretty overwhelmed and could use some perspective outside of my own head. I've been a PCT at a hospital near my university for a year now, and have racked up about 500+ hours as of this month. The thing is, I feel that this job is really beginning to affect my mental health; I have to work a minimum of 8 hours a week, but no matter how I schedule my shifts (so far, it's been 4 hour shifts twice a week), I always have to sacrifice some time I could have otherwise... dental Wreb at UNLV
Hi there, I'm a little confused because on the WREB candidate guide it says we need to take certain parts of the modupro typodonts, yet on the UNLV site information document it says students are provided typodonts. I'm leaning with we have to take the certain parts ourselves, but was curious if anyone has taken it there and could share their experience? Also the WREB candidate guide mentioned several times that modupro articulators are not needed at every testing location and to refer to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Things Specialty doctors wish GP doctors knew/would do before referring...
Currently still in school, but after one of my cardiology proffs mentioned that sometimes GP and even ER will refer out DMVD stage C dogs out for an echo with a cardiologist when the cardiologist wishes the GP/ER would take the radiograph. It got me thinking that I'm sure there are plenty of these instances where a specialty doctor wishes GP would do X, Y, or Z before the consult. So my question is, what can GP do a better job of before referring pt's out for any specialty consult service? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

LOR - does research letter count as 1 of 3?
I only have 3 letters. Super worried. 1 of my 3 letters is from a research mentor letter that has not observed me in clinic. Is that acceptable, or should I be pesting my other clinical writers to use one of theirs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question for the resident moonlighters doing inpatient work (pay/work load)
I've been getting the feeling I'm getting a raw deal in one of my current moonlighting gigs. Every attending at my program whom I mention this to seems shocked at the work load. I cover the entire unit on a given weekend. I am responsible for phone call Friday-Monday morning, done from home. Overnight calls generally aren't very much. I round Sat/Sun seeing each patient in the hospital once. I also do new intakes and discharges. A typical weekend might look like this: 35-40 follow ups... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
