Association between dietary selenium and zinc intake and risk of dilated cardiomyopathy in children: a case-control study
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP) is characterized by the enlargement and weakening of the heart and is a major cause of heart failure in children. Infection and nutritional deficiencies are culprits for DCMP. Zin... (Source: BMC Pediatrics)

Evaluation of cardiac arrhythmia in pediatric patients with Left Ventricular Assist Device (L-VAD)
CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing L-VAD implantation, rhythm disorders that could normally lead to hemodynamic instability are frequently encountered. In these rhythm disorders, medical therapy should be attempted before resorting to cardioversion or defibrillation, and subsequently, more aggressive treatment methods should be considered.PMID:38567583 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35724 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Role of Treg cell subsets in cardiovascular disease pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets
Front Immunol. 2024 Mar 15;15:1331609. doi: 10.3389/fimmu.2024.1331609. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTIn the genesis and progression of cardiovascular diseases involving both innate and adaptive immune responses, inflammation plays a pivotal and dual role. Studies in experimental animals indicate that certain immune responses are protective, while others exacerbate the disease. T-helper (Th) 1 cell immune responses are recognized as key drivers of inflammatory progression in cardiovascular diseases. Consequently, the CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) are gaining increasing attention for their roles in inflammation and ...

Transcriptional Changes in Dilated Cardiomyopathy After LVAD Treatment
Purpose: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by transcriptional changes. Clinical recovery after LVAD implant is highly variable and transcriptional changes often persist. Our goal was to identify micro-RNAs (miRNAs) associated with heart failure (HF) and to evaluate responses to LVAD therapy to better understand epigenetic mechanisms regulating differential gene expression (DGE). LVAD/Stem Cell Combination Therapy in Nonischemic Dilated Cardiomyopathy Patients: Proof-of-Concept Study
Purpose: Cell therapy was associated with reverse remodelling and improved outcome in patients with nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). We are performing a study to evaluate the safety and feasibility of this approach in NICM patients undergoing long-term LVAD support. (Source: The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation)
