Investigations of Ni(II)Cysteine-Tyrosine Dithiocarbamate Complex: Synthesis, Characterization, Molecular Docking, Molecular Dynamic, and Anticancer Activity on MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cell Line
CONCLUSION: there were 5 residues responsible for maintaining the ligand binding stable. The compound had significant Hbond contact intensity, however, it was not strong enough to make a significant anticancer effect. Though the synthesized compound shows low bioactivity, this research is expected to give valuable insight into the effect of molecular structure on anticancer activity.PMID:38679991 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2024.25.4.1301 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)

Targeted and immunotherapy for the management of advanced urothelial carcinoma of the bladder
CONCLUSION: Six targeted and immunotherapeutic agents have been approved for patients with advanced urothelial bladder cancer. They all have demonstrated activity in patients for whom disease has progressed during or after platinum-based therapy. Pembrolizumab, with and without enfortumab, has demonstrated first-line activity, and avelumab is a key maintenance therapy after first-line treatment. The results of additional clinical trials should provide evidence to establish the exact role in therapy of each agent in patients with advanced disease.PMID:38679913 | DOI:10.1093/ajhp/zxae090 (Source: American Journal of Health-S...

Staging and systemic treatment of ocular and periocular metastases
Ophthalmologie. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.1007/s00347-024-02034-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMetastases of malignant diseases are the most frequent tumors diagnosed in the human eye. They occur in approximately 5-10% of patients with solid tumors during the course of the disease. Their frequency is particularly high in patients with breast and lung cancer. Many highly sensitive periorbital tissues can be affected by the localization of the metastatic lesions and pose a number of clinical challenges. The main goal of the therapy of ocular metastases consists of the control of tumor growth (including the control of other poss...

A plain language summary of the TROPHY-U-01 study: sacituzumab govitecan use in people with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancer
CONCLUSIONS REPORTED BY THE RESEARCHERS?: The study showed that sacituzumab govitecan had significant anti-cancer activity. Though most participants who received sacituzumab govitecan experienced side effects, these did not usually stop participants from continuing sacituzumab govitecan. Doctors can help control these side effects using treatment guidelines, but these side effects can be serious. Clinical Trial Registration: NCT03547973 (ClinicalTrials.gov) (TROPHY-U-1).PMID:38682560 | DOI:10.2217/fon-2023-1030 (Source: Cancer Control)

Synergistic effects of < em > Bacillus coagulans < /em > and < em > Newcastle disease virus < /em > on human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell proliferation
CONCLUSION: It appears that utilizing oncolytic viruses (OV) and bacteria in conjunction with chemotherapy drugs could potentially aid in reducing the growth of colorectal cancer cells. However, further research is necessary, including animal studies, to confirm the efficacy of this treatment method.PMID:38682055 | PMC:PMC11055439 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v16i1.14878 (Source: Cancer Control)

The Effect of Tumor Resection and Radiotherapy on the Expression of Stem Cell Markers (CD44 and CD133) in Patients with Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Conclusion: The results also indicated that the expression of CD44 significantly decreased after tumor resection and radiotherapy. The upregulation of mRNA level of Bcl-2 and ALDH, and the downregulation of Bax and Bak gene expression were noted in these cases when compared to the healthy control group.PMID:38680713 | PMC:PMC11055418 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14748 (Source: Cancer Control)

Roles of TRPM channels in glioma
Cancer Biol Ther. 2024 Dec 31;25(1):2338955. doi: 10.1080/15384047.2024.2338955. Epub 2024 Apr 29.ABSTRACTGliomas are the most common type of primary brain tumor. Despite advances in treatment, it remains one of the most aggressive and deadly tumor of the central nervous system (CNS). Gliomas are characterized by high malignancy, heterogeneity, invasiveness, and high resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It is urgent to find potential new molecular targets for glioma. The TRPM channels consist of TRPM1-TPRM8 and play a role in many cellular functions, including proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, etc. ...

Evaluation of Central Nervous System Relapse in Adults with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Receiving Hyper-CVAD Treatment in Seyyed Al-Shohada Hospital: Isfahan, 2014-2019
Conclusion: This study shows that the prognosis of CNS relapse in adults with ALL has not improved much. Limited studies have been conducted on the recurrence of the central nervous system in adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Therefore, further studies on CNS relapse after complete remission of ALL are required to clarify more details.PMID:38680719 | PMC:PMC11055424 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14743 (Source: Cell Research)
