The application of < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG-PET/CT in gastric cancerstaging and factors affecting its sensitivity
CONCLUSION: Fluorine-18-FDG PET/CT is a valuable diagnostic method in gastric cancer patients which significantly contributes to determining the TNM stage and thus helps choose correct patient management. Histology and primary tumor stage as well as patient cohorts in which these factors may vary should be considered when evaluating results to decrease a chance of a false negative readout.PMID:33866341 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912308 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Brenner Borderline Ovarian Tumor: A Case Series and Literature Review
CONCLUSIONS: Peritoneal staging surgery is not required because all patients reported had stage I disease. One recurrence occurred. When reviewing all the 82 cases reported in the literature (including ours), 9% had previous history or synchronous urothelial tumor, suggesting the need to carefully check for urological disease in patients with BBOT.PMID:33768396 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-021-09879-y (Source: Ann Oncol)

Borderline ovarian tumors in Denmark 1997 ‐2018: Time trends in incidence by histology, age and educational level
ConclusionsIn Denmark, the incidence of serous borderline ovarian tumors was stable during 1997 ‐2018, whereas the incidence of mucinous borderline ovarian tumors decreased. The incidence rates of both types of borderline ovarian tumors tended to be highest among women with a low educational level throughout the study period. Primary Borderline Mucinous Testicular Tumor: A Case Report and Literature Review
We present the case of a patient with a primary testicular mucinous tumor. A 52-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of painless enlargement of the left scrotum. Ultrasound examination revealed a cystic mass in the left testis, with viscous fluid areas and calcified spots, irregular solid bulges on the cyst wall, and a small blood supply. Serum alpha-fetoprotein, β-human chorionic gonadotropin, lactate dehydrogenase, renal function, inflammatory markers, and routine urine and blood examinations were all normal. The patient underwent radical resection of the left testis. Postoperative pathology showed a multilocula...

Diagnostic accuracy of intraoperative frozen section analysis in correlation with histopathological diagnosis of ovarian tumors in a tertiary care center - a retrospective study.
Authors: Kumar AS, Chander V, Parthasarathy J Abstract Treatment plan for ovarian neoplasms differs for benign, borderline and malignant tumors. With a turnaround time of 15 to 20 minutes, frozen section has become a reliable intraoperative diagnostic tool. The aim of this study is to correlate the frozen section diagnosis with subsequent histopathologic diagnosis and determine the accuracy of frozen section diagnosis. The study included 152 ovarian tumors, the overall accuracy of frozen section in diagnosing malignancy was 99.34%, whereas that for benign and borderline tumors were 97.37% and 96.71% resp...

Performance of the IOTA ADNEX Model on Selected Group of Patients with Borderline Ovarian Tumours.
Conclusions: The International Ovarian Tumour Analysis (IOTA) ADNEX model performs well in discriminating BOTs from other ovarian tumours irrespective of the subtype. The calculation based on RR or AR with the cut-off value of at least 10% should be used when evaluating for BOTs. PMID: 33322438 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Medicina (Kaunas))

Neoadjuvant therapy versus upfront resection for clinically “resectable” pancreatic cancer: The debate continues
We have assembled two articles addressing factors predictive of early recurrence (within 6 months postoperatively) after curative resection of clinically resectable pancreatic ductal cancer (PDAC) and after clinically resectable invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm. Although many, if not most, pancreatic surgeons accept the importance of neoadjuvant therapy for borderline resectable PDAC, the concept of neoadjuvant therapy for clinically resectable PDAC or invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm is not yet universally accepted. Histological classification of mucinous ovarian tumors: inter-observer reproducibility, clinical relevance, and role of genetic biomarkers
AbstractThe morphological distinction between the various types of mucinous ovarian tumors has major prognostic implications but may be challenging. The aims of our study were to describe inter-observer reproducibility in the morphological diagnosis of mucinous ovarian tumors, to evaluate the clinical relevance of possible diagnostic discrepancies, and to identify molecular abnormalities correlated with the histological type. Seventy-nine ovarian mucinous borderline tumors (MOB) and either expansile or infiltrative carcinomas (MOC) were independently reviewed by two gynecological pathologists. Molecular analysis was perfor...
