Genetic diagnosis of pseudomyxoma peritonei originating from mucinous borderline tumor inside an ovarian teratoma
Pseudomyxoma peritonei is a rare disease condition mainly caused by primary mucinous tumors from the appendix and rarely from the ovary, such as when mucinous ovarian tumors arise from within a teratoma. Molec... (Source: BMC Medical Genomics)

The impact of hysterectomy on oncological outcomes in patients with borderline ovarian tumors: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Uterine-sparing surgery might be recommended in all BOT patients since it seems to increase the risk of recurrence, but not those of death due to disease or death of any cause.PMID:35090745 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2022.01.019 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

Adnexal torsion due to borderline mucinous tumor of the gonad in a prepubertal girl with mixed gonadal dysgenesis (45X/46XY) and a Turner phenotype
We present the case of a TS patient with 45X,46XY with two episodes of left adnexal torsion (AT). Biopsies during detorsion showed benign mucinous cystadenoma. Pathology following bilateral gonadectomy revealed left gonad with mucinous borderline tumor and right gonad with gonadoblastoma, both of which have malignant potential. Obstetric outcomes after conservative management of ovarian borderline tumors in women of reproductive age: A single center experience
CONCLUSIONS: Fertility-sparing surgery should be proposed to young women wishing to preserve fertility. The rate of spontaneous pregnancy is approximately 50%.The risk of relapse is significant but always of borderline histology and may be successfully treated by the second surgery.PMID:34998079 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2021.12.029 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma with mucoepithelial metaplasia combined with a serous borderline tumor: A case report
Rationale: Gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (GAS) is a rare type of cervical adenocarcinoma that is a mucinous adenocarcinoma with a variety of gastral patterns. To date, there are no systematic clinical diagnosis and treatment guidelines. Patient concerns: In our case, a 49-year-old woman underwent pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) due to a pelvic mass, and cervical lesions were unexpectedly found. After receiving relevant surgical treatment, the pathological results showed the particularity of the tumor type—cervical gastric adenocarcinoma with a borderline serous tumor of both appendages and t...

Primary female genital system lymphoma complicated by a recurrent mucinous borderline ovarian tumor: a case report and review of the literature
Primary female genital system lymphoma (PFGSL) is an infrequent entity. All genital organs may be affected, and most PFGSLs are localized to the cervix, uterine body, and ovaries. The clinical manifestations a... (Source: BMC Women's Health)

Müllerian Mucinous Cystadenomas of the Ovary: A Report of 25 Cases of an Unheralded Benign Ovarian Neoplasm Often Associated With Endometriosis and a Brief Consideration of Neoplasms Arising From the Latter
A subset of ovarian mucinous tumors demonstrates müllerian-type epithelium, with such lesions variably designated “endocervical-like” and seromucinous since their popularization based on a report of borderline examples in 1989. While müllerian mucinous borderline tumors and carcinomas have been highlighted in the literature, there has been minimal attention given to benign müllerian mucinous tumors, particularly müllerian mucinous cystadenomas. Given the paucity of literature describing the features of müllerian mucinous cystadenomas/cystadenofibromas, diagnostic difficulties may arise when papillary features are ...

Prognosis in primary mucinous ovarian carcinoma: focusing on the five pathological findings indicating metastatic mucinous carcinoma to the ovary
CONCLUSION: Five pathological findings indicating MMCO in PMOC were significantly associated with poor prognosis in PMOC patients. Also, the new grouping system combining these findings was identified as an independent prognostic factor.PMID:34910399 | DOI:10.3802/jgo.2022.33.e18 (Source: Journal of Gynecologic Oncology)

Cancers, Vol. 13, Pages 5713: Targeted Selected Reaction Monitoring Verifies Histology Specific Peptide Signatures in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
ndfeldt Epithelial ovarian cancer (OC) is a disease with high mortality due to vague early clinical symptoms. Benign ovarian cysts are common and accurate diagnosis remains a challenge because of the molecular heterogeneity of OC. We set out to investigate whether the disease diversity seen in ovarian cyst fluids and tumor tissue could be detected in plasma. Using existing mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics data, we constructed a selected reaction monitoring (SRM) assay targeting peptides from 177 cancer-related and classical proteins associated with OC. Plasma from benign, borderline, and malignant ovarian tumors...

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Switch in Borderline Resectable/Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer
CONCLUSION: CS in patients undergoing NAC for BR/LA pancreatic cancer does not incur oncologic detriment.
